“Great place to stay with friends”
Reviewed July 2, 2015 for a stay in May 2015

We stayed with a group of friends in May. Perfect location, 5 minutes walk and you're in the centre of Sarlat. The place itself has large gardens and great places to sit and enjoy the outlook over the pool and surrounding countryside.
The house is very well maintained. Everything you need is there (and working). Highly recommended.

“A beautiful haven on the outskirts of Sarlat”
Reviewed June 8, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

What a wonderful week the four of us had exploring the Dordogne Region. After each day out sightseeing we were able to retreat to charming Villa La Peyriere and relax either inside in the spacious comfortable living area, or outside on the alfresco BBQ patio or cool off in the secluded pool. The owners have cleverly designed the plan of the garden to create separate areas. An expanse of walnut trees greets you are you enter the property, then there is the secure pool section, a utility area, a BBQ patio and a herb garden. One night we picked sweet strawberries and raspberries to enjoy at dinner. There are trees all around so it is a haven for birds as well as humans. The view south west from our bedroom window looked out to the hills beyond the town. It was an easy walk down into the old town where you can explore the wonders of the old town There are many bars and restaurants to choose from for a quiet drink or dinner. A Boulangerie is just down the road where fresh bread and croissants can be purchased for breakfast. We were so pleased we discovered this gem.

“Perfect, we wouldn't change a thing!”
Reviewed May 26, 2015 for a stay in May 2015

I stayed here with friends for my 40th birthday, a dream I had in my mind in the years approaching it, to stay in a beautiful country cottage in France. I could not have come up with a better house in my mind.
We had a car, which we used to go into the towns close by for dinner, La Roque Gageac and Beynac were stunning. We also cooked happily in the kitchen, which had everything we needed and was easy to negotiate.
We parked in the car park at the bottom of the hill when visiting Sarlat, as we usually had armfuls of shopping and souvenirs etc. the house is definitely close enough to walk, which we did a few times.
The pool area was lovely, I imagine it being hard to leave in the warmest months, it was not quite warm enough for us during our stay. We were a little confused about the pool alarm, as we had not seen one of those in Australia, so just read the booklet in the house.
if arriving on a Sunday or Monday, take food supplies with you, as we found it hard finding a meal in Sarlat, these are their "closed" or "the chef is not in today" days.
This house was perfect for us, I can not wait to go back again. I must mention, as the daughter of a Mum with a very bad back, she would not have been able to stay here, due to the number of stairs, and some of them tight and steep. No problem at all for the able-bodied folks though. We loved the character of the house, especially the downstairs sunroom, made mostly of glass. The photos can not capture just how wonderful it is!
It was a wonderful surprise to have the coffee machine, with coffee pods supplied, after staying in hotels without even a kettle for instant coffee!

Liked best: We liked everything, the sunroom was very special.
Liked least: Beds were great but pillows very fat, I am glad I took my own. A photo of the street entrance would have been good

“A pleasant, comfortable villa”
Reviewed September 23, 2014 for a stay in September 2014

Villa La Peyriere is a well resourced accommodation in a pleasant setting with all that one would need to have an enjoyable, hassle free holiday. After exploring Sarlat and its surrounds it is nice to return to the lovely outdoors setting and just relax. The villa is conveniently located, a short walk from the old town. My only note of caution is that unfit elderly people may find walking back a bit of a challenge because it is slightly steep as are the stairs to the bedrooms. However, for most holidaymakers it is a good rental choice in this very popular holiday location.

“Lovely gardens, perfectly located and comfortable”
Reviewed August 26, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

This villa was exactly as described, with a well stocked, clean, highly organized kitchen, comfortable bedrooms, beautifully landscaped gardens and easy walk into the medieval town of Sarlat. The lock box by the front door added convenience, as we could arrive at any time, and the "instruction book" for the house was very thorough and easy to understand. From the outside, the villa looked like a beautiful old stone building, yet the inside was completely modern with good showers and appliances. The pots, pans, dishes, etc, were in excellent shape and well organized, which made using the kitchen a pleasure.

There's a beautiful, brick outdoor grill on the back patio where we cooked dinner every night. Plenty of firewood was available, which we appreciated. My sons would pick fresh rosemary, thyme, oregano, sage, and mint from the garden and we used it to season our dinner or combine the chopped herbs with olive oil for dipping bread. Delicious! There was comfortable seating by the pool, on the patio and inside the house so we could dine wherever we liked. Large, shuttered windows overlooked the beautiful fruit trees and gardens, plus a stunning view over the Dordogne countryside. We were very happy with all aspects of the appearance of the villa.

Sarlat old town center was a quick walk, so buying fresh bread for breakfast was our usual routine. The town is delightful, with street performers, ice cream shops, créperies, restaurants, and all sorts of craft shops. There were many castles within an easy drive from the villa, plus many significant prehistoric sites we could visit.

The owners were very gracious about answering any questions I had via email, and I felt no hesitation about contacting them. They had a huge bookshelf with all sorts of novels, tour books, coffee table books on France, and a drawer of top notch DVDs that could be watched. The wifi worked well in and around the stone house where it's plugged in, but the range didn't extend into the second stone house (they are connected via a sitting room/breezeway) so I couldn't use the wifi in the kitchen or master bedroom, so I simply had to remember to come into the other house to use it.

I definitely recommend this villa to anyone who wants a beautiful, comfortable, welcoming home base from which to explore the Dordogne region of France.

“Will definitely recommend Villa La Peyriere to our friends”
Reviewed September 22, 2013 for a stay in August 2013

My husband and another couple (in our 60s and 70s) spent a wonderful week in this Sarlat stone home. All of us have visited Sarlat in the past so we focused our time on cooking (kitchen works very well) the bounty of the local open market. The accommodations are comfortable, the kitchen nicely furnished by an owner who obviously enjoys cooking, and the grounds very lovely. The pool was cool, great for a quick half plunge after hiking, with lovely surrounding seating areas. The owner was very easy to work with and responded quickly to all of my emails. We will definitely rent this home on another trip to the Sarlat area. The only negative we encountered was the lack of stocking (paper towels, soap, etc) by the property manager, for which the owner was very apologetic. I know this will not be a problem in the future because of what the owner told me.

“Quality villa in perfect location!”
Reviewed September 16, 2013 for a stay in August 2013

We stayed for a week in August 2013 and had a fabulous time! The villa is a short (walking) distance from the mediaeval centre of Sarlat La Caneda and provides the perfect backdrop for a relaxing and interesting holiday in the Dordogne. The villa is hidden up a steep track just off the main road to St Nathelene and the grounds are very private and extensive. The old stone buildings, glowing a golden yellow in the evening sun, create an immediate impression of character and quality and the views across the valley from this elevated position are wonderful. The villa has three main garden areas which give it a spacious feel and the pool area was one of the high points of our stay there. The pool itself is not particularly big but it is very well designed, good for a cooling dip and particularly good for young children.

The villa itself has a quirky layout with two staircases leading up to the three bedrooms, one off the lounge area and the other off the kitchen. This all adds to the charm but it might mean careful thought being given to bedroom allocation if you have young children. The overall standard of finish in the villa is very good- very spacious and comfortable with good seating areas and quality furniture (wifi is provided foc also).

The kitchen is a good size with a typically French feel and all modern appliances to hand although you might say the layout is traditional. The two main buildings have a connecting room which contains the main entrance and a relaxing reading area. The lounge area has large comfortable settees, a formal dining table and a large screen TV.

The three bedrooms are all of a good size, the double with access off the kitchen having an en suite shower room. The other two bedroons, accessed from the lounge staircase share a bathroom. So all in all, the accommodation is modern and comfortable with everything needed for a comfortable stay.

The outside space is definitely the jewel in the crown- the pool area, the distant views across the valley and the general feeling of space (enjoying the brick built BBQ for example). The villa itself is also of good quality and designed to provide a high quality stay in this outstanding area of France. We would recommend this villa without hesitation to families looking for quality accommodation in a peaceful setting near to Sarlat centre.
