We visited Chez Le Gaulois based on reviews, but my group all agreed that unless you love ham, cheese and potato, this is not the restaurant to visit in Sarlat. The menu is extremely limited, and while it does vary from the typical foie gras and duck dishes of the region, it does not compare to many other restaurants that we visited in both Sarlat and nearby villages.

I was looking for a restaurant that served up hams and salamis with salad and a variety of cheeses to enjoy with a great glass of red.

My platter was excellent. So was the wine. If you can fit it in try the dessert as well. The service was excellent and it was nice to be able to watch the creation of my meal.

This restaurant is closed Sunday and Monday nights. I highly recommend it.
