This restaurant is very high quality, it feels like a very special occasion when you eat here! Its at the top end price wise for the village and more formal but worth every penny. It deserves its number 1 spot on TA!

We stopped off for a coffee. The lady's Erving warned us the prices were high as it's a hotel. But lovely surroundings, great chocolate with the coffee .. All for 10E.

Ok so we tried to get into Relaise & Chateax L'Abbey and it was closed, they did say that when they are shut they reccomend people to go to the Charbonnel ( high praise indeed) The receptionist gave me the third degree about our reservation and sniffily showed us to our table, it was full ( of smokers) we sat on a table next to 5 of them, having to listen to their cancerous coughing and spitting into handkerchives. YUK, It is the sort of restaurant where they think they a doing you a favour serving you. Our waitress had roller skates on and would walk past and slap a menu on the table without stopping, despite me indicating that we wanted something, she was way too busy to do that!! We both ordered the fish as the setting on the river was beautiful so why not, I have to say that it was boring tastless and very small to boot. Obviously they must appeal to someone other than fag faces as it was full.Beats the hell out of me!!!!

The view is nice, looking out to the river, the Service was speedy and attentive.
The Food however was dissapointing.
The escaloppe of foi gras was overdone and thus spoiled, the Beef was tough.

A Highlight was the cassis sorbet.

The food here is amazing, we had a meal for our anniversary celebration whilst on holiday and could not fault it. The staff were very attentive and helpful. Would definitely return.
