This is a really lovely site, we spent 5 days here. The facilities are spotless, the pool beautiful, and the pitches are very roomy. It's a very easy walk into town which is beautiful. The one problem we found is the wifi connection. I purchased an hours wifi and it was fine, purchased a second hour and only used 30 mins and it expired. I thought maybe I had made a mistake so purchased another hour, before logging on you can select to not connect immediately after registering your ticket i did this and it showed that there was only 4 minutes available, I had not signed on at all. I took it to reception to be told by the lady proprietor that I had used the time. She actually said I had signed in at 3.30 and used 29 minutes, which was impossible as we were off the site at this time and had the iPad with us. She was not interested at all and insisted that I had used the time. On speaking to other campers, some had also experienced not getting the full hour. It is so disappointing its such a shame that she did not even want to listen. We went onto other sites after this and had no problems at all with wifi.

We have just returned from three weeks travelling in France, two of which were spent unintentionally at this site. We arrived at the site on a Tuesday afternoon (without a reservation, but before the school holiday period), and were able to secure a pitch. We were told to go and choose one we liked and then let reception know which number we'd taken. Initially we booked for 5 nights intending, if we liked it, to add a couple of extra nights. However on the Friday after we arrived, our car broke down and we ended up staying a total of 14 nights. Phillipe and his wife were very accommodating and he even moved our caravan for us to a new pitch, as the one we were on had been pre-booked.

All the pitches are of a good size and as mentioned in other reviews some are shady whilst others are more sunny. Some also have shrubs/trees as screening to give more privacy.

The setting is lovely, with the river running along the edge of the campsite. We often took our deckchairs and books and sat in the shade watching the ducks and dragonflies.

There was a lovely big grassy area for children to play, with a bouncy castle, table tennis, boule area and exercise equipment.

The pool area was really well maintained with decent sun beds and parasols and whilst it isn't a large pool, it never felt overcrowded. Food and drink is not allowed in the pool area, which meant it was always spotlessly clean.

The shower/toilet blocks were clean and modern, with washing machines and drying facilities if required.

The reception was well stocked with leaflets and brochures relating to the area, a small shop selling milk and essentials, and a bar/restaurant area.

Brantome itself is beautiful, and absolutely a photographers paradise, with a photo opportunity around every corner.

We used this campsite as a base to see the Dordoigne area (luckily we had a hire car when ours broke down), and went to many different towns/villages - St Jean de Cole, Bourdeilles, Sarlat, Bergerac, Baynac, Castlenaud and Domme to mention just a few, all of which were beautiful.

We stayed here for 3 days in our motorhome as part of our tour of France.
The staff were all very helpful and pleasant. The site is kept very clean and tidy and has 2 toilet/shower blocks. One is heated. It is quite close to the village of Brantome which is well worth a visit. There are an Aldi and Carrefour supermarkets quite close.
The wifi on site is rather expensive.

The campsite itself is beautiful, very clean facilities, good value, 5 minute walk into the town, very nice big pitches. The owners are so helpful and friendly, and are one of the reasons we keep coming back.

This is a typical traditional french campsite with everything for a relaxed holiday for couples, families and young adults. (Except no loud discos!). There were a few static homes for rent which looked very nice. For everyone, the location is very good being by the pretty River Dronne at a spot where it is shallow and safe for splashing about; where the ducks happily swim and where beautiful dragonflies and butterflies can live in harmony with the campers. It is a 10 minute walk into Brantome which means that it is near enough to stroll to and far enough away not to be a source of noise or congestion on site. There is a good size area on site for games and activities; outdoor table tennis, bouncy castle, badminton net, tennis courts and a small pool cleaned daily with separate baby section. It is not a massive site like the ones you see by the coast or in the tourist 'hot spots'. We had a fab place for our caravan right by the river bank with plenty of shade. If you like shade or sun it is a good idea to request your preferred plot in advance as we did when we booked the site and we got just what we wanted. The staff are friendly and efficient. There is a very small shop for a few items of food and essentials and bread can be ordered every day. Sanitary areas are good and cleaned regularly. On some evenings a french group played a great repertoire of french and international songs in the small bar area. There was wi fi (payable) and the more you buy the better value the rate is I paid 20 Euos for 20 hours but it's more expensive if you buy fewer hours. There is a communal barbecue area.
Brantome itself is a lovely place to explore its history, to enjoy the Venice of Perigord as it is called and also to enjoy the cafes and restaurants. If you like canoes and canooing in a leisurely way, this is the place for you. There are other places of interest within an easy drive so it is a good base for getting to know this part of Perigord. All in all a great place to stay for a short or longer holiday. Two supermarkets are in town for all your essential items. It was all quiet by 10pm ish and all campers/caravanners were respectful of each others privacy. So glad we went!

Room Tip: Ask for the kind of place you prefer as some are very sunny and some are partially shaded.

This September saw us returning for the third time and this time we stayed for the whole month.
We enjoyed the swimming pool which is very clean and an ideal place to enjoy a spot of sunbathing as well as a cooling swim. We had a mobil-home which as before was spotlessly clean and well appointed. We like the fact that you can enjoy peace and quiet among well behaved campers and caravanners..

The town of Brantome is a real gem, beautiful buildings quaint shops, good restaurants and everywhere you look there's a photo opportunity. Other places nearby that are well worth visiting are the villages of Bourdeilles with its chateau and St Jean de Cole, another photographer's dream. It has a couple of nice reataurants in the old part of the village, to boot.

We've always found the owners helpful and obliging. They just want people to behave appropriately and stick to the rules which are for everyone's benefit.

Best wishes for the future,

Don and Brenda

This is our fourth visit to Camping Brantome Peyrelevade and we will be back next year.

You can pick what ever size or type of pitch you like when you arrive from large and sunny to by the river and in the shade. What ever takes your fancy?

The site really is that good with one of the best towns in France just a short walk away. The local restaurants are excellent and the canoe centre in town is great value for money for an afternoon's entertainment.
