FABULOUS. We spent 6 glorious nights here and cannot wait to return. Book for dinner on your first night and enjoy discussing how terrific it was the following morning over the best breakfast served anywhere. William bakes top notch croissants every morning, makes his own (very special) jam, squeezes the orange juice, serves fresh milk from the farm across the road, and, (if you're there in May) decorates the bowl of fresh fruit with cherries he picked off the tree that morning. All our enchanting meals were served on the delightful terrace overlooking the courtyard and pool.

William is a talented chef. My husband and I have been traveling in France for a decade and go to great lengths to find superb cuisine. I cannot convey how delighted we were with all our meals here. If you appreciate carefully prepared food with fresh ingredients you will LOVE it--William obviously gives a great deal of thought and is very creative in making sure each course complements the others. We had only 3 dinners but next time will eat here every night.

The rooms are lovely and immaculate. Great attention to detail such as fresh flowers in the bedroom. We enjoyed the pool. Our dogs were most welcome had an excellent area for sprinting near the tennis court.

If you are at all mobile you will enjoy the short stroll into Brantôme.

I have never written a review before, but I have been home a week now and cannot stop thinking about our time spent at Le Chatenet. The flavours linger! Our last dessert, which was a poached William, was indescrible. 10/10

William is a marvelous host, warm and welcoming. His wife Jane was not there for our visit but I can't wait to meet her. À la prochaine.

We spent just one night in Le Chatenet but we'd spent a month with no doubt.

I travelled two weeks with my mothe in a gastronomique/historic route around the Dordogne & the Lot region. Our goal was to enjoy ourselves with the magnificent lanscapes and also get a little taste of the great products of the of the south of France. We certainly did!

Our stay in Le Chatenet was our last night before we went back home to Barcelona and was a perfect way to finish this trip off.

Jane and William manage the 'Gentilhommière' in a way you feel at home. They are extremely interesting couple and take care of any little detail to make your stay unforgettable.

Because our trip was mostly about enjoying the food and discovering new flavours, I must point out that we had maybe the finest meal in all our trip (and I asure you we had many in very good places). William prepared a superb dinner with excelent local ingredients such as melon with cured ham (it's better the one from Spain known as 'Jabugo' or 'de bellota' but was good enough), magret du canard (duck breast), vegetables, foie gras, rilletes, cheese, and other local specialities. We had our meal on the terrace we shared with other customers (3 or 4 tables). Jane was a perfect host and William was going in & out from the kitchen. I had the impression they really do care about giving an excellent attention to customers and that they enjoy themselves on the route.

Next morning we had a wonderful breakfast before we take the car home.

I strongly recommend this place because it has all you could need: great state and fantastic gardens, amazing owners and excellent food. What else I would wish?

I'll be back for sure but not only one night. It's worth every penny it cost.

A beautiful XVIIth century 'Gentilhommière', ideally located just above the abbey of Brantôme (the Dodogne "Venice"), a warm welcoming Franco-Taiwanese couple, delicious cuisine (** Michelin would be fair), immaculate rooms looking over a beautiful, warm pool and a stunning country landscape... We spent an unforgettable week and will come back.

From the moment you walk through the massive arched gate under the Pigeonnier, and are greeted by Jane who will offer you the warmest of welcomes, you will fall in love with this beautiful aristocratic home built in 1688, and her passion and enthusiasm for this place, antiques, history and culture will charm you as well. William, her husband, a learned enthusiast of tea, a professional photographer and passionate chef, who strives for perfection with local quality ingredients, deserves a Michelin star for his wonderful creations that you enjoy, at night, out under the raised arcade covered by a timbered portico. His father Phillip is a delight and the interiors of the house have much architectural charm, are refined in taste without being stuffy, and the light, pretty large bedrooms, with large, modern, spotlessly clean bathrooms, TV and wi-fi will make you not want to leave your room. The truth is any desire to see the next chateau or village will evaporate as you walk out in the morning surrounded by such beauty. As you enjoy your sumptuous breakfast, with delicious fresh orange juice, a selection of rare teas, perfect coffee and home made jams all served on lovely Limoges porcelain you will find it hard to get up from the comfortable tables as you gaze out over the grounds with the large pool, pretty flowers and gardens, walnut orchard, ancient trees and fields filled with wild flowers. You can just sit using your laptop or reading the selection of international papers, magazines or books, and suddenly you will notice time has unexpectedly flown by. Or go for a walk in the forest paths or down to Brantôme, which is just below - a five minute walk on an ancient path down to the Abbey in the stunning “Venice of Périgord”. This international family is fluent in English, French and Mandarin and with their varied interest they will too happy to make sure you enjoy a relaxing holiday in their home but you can also have your privacy as you just enjoy the most beautiful, hospitable and charming place imaginable. If you have children there is lovely equipped playground, and if you have an interest ask William, French born, but having studied tea for two years in Taiwan, to introduce you to his delightful collection which are for sale as is the organic virgin, walnut oil produced from their own trees! If you are not lucky enough to stay here, you must book dinner as you will be in for a life-long memorable meal both in setting and taste.

We travelled throughout France for 3 weeks and Le Chatenet was a stop for 2 nights.
Hospitable and charming. Rooms a delight. The pool was great and gardens very large and very well kept. Breakfast very good with usual top quality preserves taken on the terrace over looking grounds. An easy stroll into the wonderful town of Brantome. Our 2 days about covered all we wanted to see. Just a point that we were surprised to be charged 5 Euro each for a glass of Orange juice - albeit freshly squeezed. Our total 4 glasses were the most expensive fruit drinks of our 3 weeks trip. it would have been a nice gesture to give a complimentary drink on arrival as the charges for the rooms are not cheap!

However all in all a great stay!

I strongly recommend a stay at Le Chatenet. It is a beautiful building with wonderful rooms. The grounds are very picturesque and there are all the facilities you could possibly want on site including a heated swimming pool. Despite being situated out in the countryside, it is close enough to Brantome to be in the centre of the village in just a short stroll. Brantome itself is very quaint and offers numerous fantastic restaurants (the Prigordean cuisine, rich with duck and walnuts, must be my favourite in the world). More than anything else though, it is the owners, William and Jane, who made my stay so enjoyable. They really can't do enough for you and it genuinely feels like you are staying with family members rather than hoteliers. A wonderful experience.
