We picked this hotel in a hurry after a long drive because we assumed the four stars would guarantee a certain quality. The room was ridiculouly overprized, out-dated and stomach-churningly badly coordinated and in a bad state of repair. A colourblind hedgehog on LSD could have done a better job. Do not go there unless you want to feel ripped off, aesthetically assaulted and thoroughly humiliated for having paid so much for so little. If you are a glutton for punishment, however, you could find a myriad of opportunities for wasting money on extras or spend an enjoyable morning working out in the pathetic "gym" area in the lobby right next to the lift.

We checked in and immediately told the front desk that we would be checking out the next morning. This was NOT a 4 star hotel.....The room was old,the beds were small, the bathroom had not curtain on shower and the nozzle was no adjustable. We had to ask for soap.
Very disappointing for 212 euros per night and no breakfast.

I have very mixed feelings about this Hotel. It is situated in a lovely quiet residential area directly on beach not far from the harbour area. The hotel is facing north-east so if you request sea view room, keep in mind that you will have no sun on your balcony unless you are an early riser. Garden view rooms look out onto small car park with plenty of trees, more private than see view. Large open plan reception area with old style furniture leading out onto swimming pool area which has sun beds & umbrellas. Walking area around pool very tight, could be a problem in high season but as there is a gate leading directly onto the beach and as the pool is in the shaded area after noon, guests can go directly to beach without any hassle. Small breakfast room off reception. Breakfast not buffet style. Comes already set out on individual tray per person - freshly squeezed orange juice, hot drink of choice (tea with teapot), bread roll, croissant, butter, jam, yogurt, piece cheese, piece meat & piece of fruit - cost 14 euro per person. Lift to bedrooms. This is where I was disappointed. Very tired furnishings, wallpaper everywhere even on inner door panel. Nothing seemed to match, odd colour schemes. Seperate toilet. Bathroom size ok with large handbasin but the shower was handheld in bath with no shower curtain. Shower head sprayed water everywhere except on yourself! Thought it was just our problem but on speaking to other guests, they had they same shower system. Very annoying. Another problem speaking to guests, they beds are small. Some double beds are only 4 foot and shorter than the norm. Some beds had an end board so if you are a big, tall person, be warned. Room had air conditioning but you had to use your key to keep it on. Not satisfactory as when you came back to your room, it took about 15 minutes before you got your room cool. It was noisy also. Room had safe & mini bar. Sliding glass door leads out to your balcony which had 2 chairs & small table. Bedroom spotlessly cleaned every day but for some reason, our balcony was never swept sand etc. Hotel about 10 minute stroll from town centre but you could also walk in by the beach on boardwalk which was lovely. This accommodation is recommended if you are a small person, want peace & quiet, a good nights sleep and dont require a shower.

Three visits to this hotel over a period of several years. You must have a seaview room.( Very quiet )
The location of the hotel is perfect with only a ten minute walk into town and directly on a wide stretch of beach overlooking the beautiful bay of Arcachon. You can sit out on on your balcony and watch the boats going in and out of a large marina which is close by.
This hotel has 4 stars but you soon realise how it got those .
It has a lovely swimming pool ( which is always freezing cold )
They have a Sauna ,Jacuzzi ,and a tiny gym which they charge you 12 euros each to use.
In our three visits to this hotel we have never seen anyone use any of these facilities except a few very brave children who had a very brief swim in the pool. Breakfast is 14 euros each.
Champagne in the mini bar but only plastic glasses supplied.
Bedroom furniture mixed, some ultra modern some very dated.. Hand held shower over a bath with no shower curtain.Blankets on bed instead of duvet.Room not very clean. Worn carpets in foyer.
Whole hotel needs to be renovated.
Would we stay there again : I would but my wife says No Way.
Two excellent restaurants we can recommend are Aux Mille Sabeurs and Le Patio. Both only a short walk away from the hotel.
Le Patio can be expensive but they have a special mid week deal.

My partner and I spent two nights in the Arc Hotel in Arcachon, and wished we could have stayed longer. Quite reasonably priced for a 4* hotel (117 euros per room, per night), the hotel exceeded our expectations.

Located a 10 min walk to the more touristy centre of Arcachon, the Arc hotel was very quiet and tranquil. Although we didn't try the sauna and steam room (the weather was glorious, so it seemed a waste), the outdoor pool was large and lovely, and a gate led from the pool area directly onto a wonderful, little-populated stretch of beach (for which the hotel provided deckchairs).

The public areas of the hotel felt elegant in an understated, somewhat old-fashioned way, and the service was friendly yet unobtrusive.

Our room was large and comfortable, with effective AC and spacious balcony (with big adjustable shade). There was a separate WC and bathroom, which was very clean with a large bath and shower.

Breakfast was an additional 13 euros, which is a bit steep, but was ample, tasty and beautifully presented (and could be taken either in one's room or poolside). It included croissant, rolls, ham, cheese and an egg, with fruit, yoghurt, juice and tea or coffee. Having had a large lunch on the day we arrived, and enjoying the pool / room, we were reluctant to go out to dinner. A very accommodating member of the hotel staff brought us a plate of cheese and another of cold meats with bread and butter, which was exactly what we wanted. We passed a lovely evening enjoying this on our balcony, sipping local wine.

We would definitely stay here again, and recommend it wholeheartedly. Arcachon is lovely, and the Arc Hotel a civilised haven by the sea.
