3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 5, 2013

300 houses all over the area, nice! Every house has the the NAME like the boats!!! It would be better if the villas were opened, but they are all owned!

“Grand period architecture - holiday homes from the past”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 5, 2012

The Ville D'Hiver is full of grand holiday homes built in the 19th century for the rich and famous of Europe. The style of architecture is unique, and each property has its own charms. If you are interested in architecture (and having a nose at other peoples homes!), the district is worth a visit, either by foot or car.

“Fabulous Architecture”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 8, 2012

If the villas of teh Winter Town are anything to judge by this was a resort where the gravity and dignity of the Bordeaux merchants could, for a season, be abandoned in favour of ornate, fanciful, delightfully human architecture that exudes the simple pleasures of the seaside. Loathed for years, these gems are now loved again for what they are - personal, silly and human monuments.
