“Seafood restaurant”
Reviewed August 10, 2011

Fresh oysters, giant prawns, mussels, crabs and other fine selections of fishes, shells are available in this restaurant. However, the dishes were a tat expensive. Other restaurants along the street av. gambetta and Boulevard Marcel Gounouilhou serves cheaper, and nicer seafood. There is no sea-view since it faces the main road. One good point about this restaurant is that seafood is fresh here.

“Mediocre food, slow service & disgusting toilets”
Reviewed August 7, 2011

The three course 25€ menu looked rather dull so we went “A la carte”. We got charged 70€ for a couple of drinks, two main dishes and two desserts – no wine. The main dishes were ok, but nothing special and really small helpings. You have to order dessert upfront, which was clearly because they came from the freezer. The service was slow because they are understaffed to face a Saturday night crowd and pathetically amateur.

The toilets were disgusting. The two soap pumps have visibly been broken for years and a soggy, dirty old soap bar was available instead. Drying one’s hands is also unpleasant as it is a towel that has been used by all the previous customers rolled in a ball on the side of the sink.

This was a very reputable restaurant, many years ago. The standards have gone down in a big way, and it is simply not worth the price. Stay away.

“Genuinely good seafood away from the tourist traps.”
Reviewed March 21, 2011

Arcachon is a regular trip for us, it is our preferred town for a day on the coast. However, you have to search for the good restaurants, the ones along the promenade are dire. Overpriced food, served without care and the quality is not what you would expect in France, we've had some appalling meals there. Restaurant Chez Yvette looks unpromising. It is situated in the road running parallel with the prom but away from the main drag. The menu is large, mainly seafood but meat as well. We had the 24 euro menu with 3 choices for each of the 3 courses. I had the wonderfully fresh oysters and my husband mussels in a lemon cream sauce, followed by entrecote for him and coquilles st jacque for me, and brownies (beautifully moist, would put the States to shame) and ice cream. The quality was excellent, the food tasty, the price reasonably, ambiance and service great, what more could you want for a good Sunday lunch.

“mediocre food and poor service”
Reviewed September 13, 2010

had sunday lunch in this place and regrets every penny we spent there.

The food was just average. We had the 23 euros lunch menu. The salmon starter was tasteless and could have been made in a supermarket . The mouclade starter was average and not up to arcachon standard.

Our main courses were blend - dry tuna and tete de veau greasy and covered in a sauce. Dessert was average.

The kids menu was 9.5 euro for a cheap burger and chips and a chocolate crepe.

As for the service, the staff was disinterested and slightly rude. We have two year old twins which were relatively well behaved that day and yet we were made feel very unwelcome. Maybe it is because we did not have the seafood platter, I don't know

This place looks like the kind a place that once had a great reputation and chef and now is living on it whithout any of the qualities to back it up.

Would avoid and go to either pavillon d'argoin next door or au p'tit ju next street down for a nice meal.

“ok for seafood but toilets are a disgrace”
Reviewed September 8, 2010

This is a restaurant for seafood lovers especially shellfish but there is little else on the menu, which is not cheap.
Service was friendly and efficient.
There is one toilet shared between ladies and gentlemen for the whole place, which probably seats 100 or more people. Awful!
