The tiny little town of Riquewihr France has many Alsatian vineyards that produce fantastic wines. My favorite is Riesling but they also produce many many more such as Gewurtztraminer and Pinot. As you travel into town take note of the extremely LARGE storks nests built up high. As a matter of fact the Stork is the towns symbol because there is such a heavy population of them. If you look up you will more than likely spot an upside down beer bottle on a pole. This symbolizes that there are available bachelors living there. Riquewihr was fought over many times and taken from France to become part of Germany but it was always returned to France. As you walk it's narrow cobbled stone streets you will be able to walk directly through its old town gates. There are plenty of great eating establishments within this small town. I prefer the Creperie as they make some of the very best French Crepes that I have ever had. Riquewihr is most certainly a tourist town but with great offerings. Try some of the macaroons made at the corner shop, they are extremely good! Explore its fantastic variety of unusual shops. Be sure to grab a bottle or to of great Alsatian wine for which this area of France is famous for.
