“A top dining experience”
Reviewed May 10, 2013

Quality food, well presented in elegant surroundings. Superior menu chosen and price well justified. Various wines by the glass of excellent quality. Service friendly and efficient though they would benefit from more waiting staff.

“Lovely meal on a chilly evening”
Reviewed April 6, 2013

We arrived here without a reservation and were lucky to get a table near the fireplace. They did fill up so reservations are probably wise.

We enjoyed one of the fixed menus and it was lovely. The staff were attentive and engaging.

The wine list is extensive and there were half bottle choices as well which was pleasing to see.

It was a lovely way to spend a cold evening in Riquewihr.

“A Thoroughly Enjoyable Evening”
Reviewed November 10, 2012

We arrived (2 couples) a little on the 'early' side and were promptly seated in the front room at a large and comfortable table which faced the front door. The ambiance is "warm and welcoming, even a little cozy". Our drinks and wines were served promptly by a very nice waiter.

We all had the a la Carte Fois Gras appetizer (3 different versions) and it was heavenly, really wonderful tasting and each version cane with interesting accompaniments. For our main course we all selected typical Alsatian dinners and wines with basted/boiled meats, sausages, cabbage, potatoes... It was all so delicious we ate our hearts out trying to finish all of our serving! Some of these dinners were enormous, beautifully prepared and presented. We were so stuffed we couldn't eat dessert!

This restaurant filled up quickly after we arrived and they do have limited seating, so reservations might be a good idea instead of stumbling in when you are taking a walk. Looking at the menu posted outside and seeing the warm and inviting ambiance made up our minds to dine here, but the experience was delightful.

I would go back again in a heart-beat, and wished we had! It is not a formal restaurant as one mentioned, we had casual jeans and warm jackets on; the price was in line with the service, ambiance, food, etc., not overly expensive (even for us gluttons who had Foie Gras), but it isn't the least expensive restaurant in the village either. If you are near-by, don't miss this spot for a lovely dinner and evening.

“Great meal!”
Reviewed November 8, 2012

Their restaurant is recommended by the Guide Michelin and we know why. Food was great, everything was cooked to perfection. Wine recommendation were spot on. Staff was very attentive. A bit pricey but truly worth every Euro we spent. Be sure to make reservations as their seating is limited.

“Good in parts, but not quite there.”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

We tried to go to another restaurant across the road but it was closed (Tuesday evening) so came here instead as it was highly rated and handy.
Excellent greeting and we were shown to a great table, even though we hadn't booked. The place later quite filled up so we felt we were lucky.
Neither of the fixed menus appealed so we ordered a la carte.
My wife's lobster starter was excellent, but her veal main course disappointing. My starter was a mixture of ham, cheese, fig and rocket, which really was a mish-mash and not very elegant or tasty - a bit strange really. My main was Brill (which was very good) served over risotto which was overcooked like rice pudding (very bad). The fish was topped with a white sauce which was absolutely exquisite - no, really, it was even better than that.
Dessert was an amazing apple tart complete with chocolate shard and toffee spiral - really tasty but eventually too sweet and sickly.
We had a modest bottle of wine but still managed to accrue a bill just short of €200 for two, which was too much really. The dining room was lovely and service excellent throughout, but at that level I'm afraid the food didn't quite cut it.
