Attraction details
Recommended length of visit: 2-3 hours
Owner description: With 400 vehicles on show, the Schlumpf Collection is certainly the most prestigious collection in the world. This is demonstrated by the two Bugatti Royales, including the famous Coupé Napoléon, the 150 Bugatti, Hispano-Suiza, Ferrari, Rolls-Royce, Maserati, Maybach, Mercedes models, etc. From the first car, a Panhard-Levassor from 1894, to the present day, the Cité de l'Automobile brings the saga of the automobile to life. A living history as visitors can start a vintage car with a crank.

“Car Heaven”
Reviewed October 10, 2013

This was my third visit and I enjoyed it just as much as the first two.
There is a large car park, which now charges. Adjacent is a tram stop if that is convenient for you.
They charge 11 euros to get in. Children have a reduced rate
They now have a new self service cafe - you will definitely be ready for a drink when you have been round all the cars. There is also a shop with various car related products and books.

Mainly concentrating on Bugattis, there are various cars from about 1897 to the current Bugatti Veyron - at a bargain price of 1.3 million euros! They are laid out in aisles and you are free to photograph them. They have hand sets, but rather than listen to a long running commentary, you look for the number next to the car you are interested in, enter it and just listen to that.
There are more areas of interest for children too and these do not impact on the general museum.
At the end are formula one cars.
This is a fabulous museum that you can cover at your own pace. Highly recommended

“Spend half a day - it's worth it”
Reviewed October 8, 2013

My husband is a fan of old cars, so I went there just to keep his company, and ended up loving it! Unfortunately they were fixing the roof so we couldn't see any of the cars made for kids, but the real cars were amazing!

“Fantastic collection of cars”
Reviewed September 26, 2013

This is a great museum. There is a lot of information available about the cars and it is very well laid out.
The lighting could be a bit better.

“Bugatti heaven”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

The museum has an unparalleled collection of Bugattis, so it's a must if that's your thing. However, if you like more contemporary vehicles, it comes up a bit short.

“Interesting, but plan to spend some time here.”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

The museum here is huge and holds so many cars that you will want to plan for at least an hour here, if not more. It helps to be a fan of french cars which make up most of the collection. They do have a collection of older F1 and other racing cars which was really interesting. If you don't like old cars, especially French ones, then go somewhere else.
