We have just returned from a lovely stay at the hotel ,which was quiet, cool and perfect for relaxing. It has a slightly old fashioned feel with traditional decor but is very comfortable. We were upgraded on arrival to a sea view room with a perfect outlook onto Calvi bay and the Citadel and we were adjacent to the swimming pool. The pool and grounds were impeccably kept as was the hotel but the stars were the staff. Nothing was a bother and they were very friendly and charming, particularly our waiter Son who has a wonderful smile! The breakfast was excellent and we had dinner at the hotel one evening. It was very good if a little pricey.
The free shuttle bus was like our private taxi as most of the hotel guests had cars and overall we came away feeling very well looked after.

Room Tip: The sea view rooms are worth the upgrade.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Corsica. The location was ideal for us - way out of the busy town of Calvi (we went in mid-July) so it was lovely and quiet. The hotel shuttle bus served us well. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and very patient with our rudimentary French (but also spoke good English). Only criticisms would be that for the price the rooms were on the small side, although well appointed, and meals and drinks were expensive.

We stayed one week at the hotel and from the arrival pick-up until our departure, we felt as if we had a personal service from the hotel staff. It was a great value for money: everyday free shuttle to town or to the beach, food was excellent (we especially appreciated the breakfast with crepes served every morning), room was clean and spacious, service at breakfast and diner was outstanding. The waiters were very attentive, friendly and with a real attention to details. The hotel is very calm and relaxing, ideal for a bit of quiet. Overall we could not ask for more!

We have just stayed at the Hotel Corsica for a week at the end of June. We had upgraded to a deluxe room, which was very well appointed and always kept very clean. The hotel is a fair way out of Calvi ( about two miles) but that is a strength as well as a weakness. It meant that it was very quiet lounging around the pool - but it also meant that you needed transport to get in and out of town. Fortunately, the hourly free shuttle bus ( Navette) was excellent. The drivers were great, and happy to add journeys if we needed picking up at different times. ( like meeting the train from a day out at Ile Rousse).

The hotel restaurant was good and we eat there a couple of times - but there is such a good selection of excellent restautants in Calvi itself that I would not recommend half board. Breakfast was OK - better than average, if not the best I have ever had. Freshly pressed orange juice was available, but you needed to ask ...... so it came half way through the meal.

Wifi was free - and available in our room.

We hired a car through our travel firm for four days. The logic being - a couple of days of exploring Calvi, a train trip to Ile Rousse - and then our own exploration of the hill villages in the region. That worked out well - but I would want to warn people that the AVIS pick up and drop off times in Calvi town were VERY restricted. ( only 9-12am most days, and shut Sundays when we visited). This caught us out, and we had to find a way to get out from Calvi to the airport to pick up the car that we had ordered. Not the end of the world, but a bit irritating..

Finally, on the timing of our trip. We went at the end of June - and it was still quiet season. The impression was that it would all change imminently when the French and Italians arrived for the "Grand Vacances" - but I would happily say that June is a great time to go. You've got the weather, and not the crowds.

Overall, very much enjoyed our trip - and would happily return to this hotel

Spent a week here recently and found the hotel to be a mixed bag.
PROS
Quiet location, large relaxing pool area with plenty of sun beds and umbrellas.
Free shuttle to town, beach,an absolute necessity as the hotel is a 50 minute walk from the centre.
Staff pleasant and smiling, but not very good at passing telephone messages on.

CONS
Tired and dated decor ,very 1980s
Bedroom small and narrow,if you are tall your feet will hang over the end of the bed.
Soundproofing is also needed as we were woken in the early hours on 3 nights by a noisy group returning to the hotel and slamming doors.
Breakfast, a strange mix, panna cotta, chocolate mousse and rice pudding, but no proper cereals only mini boxes of coco and honey pops.
You have to ask for fresh orange juice which is not made clear at the outset.
The hotel is classed as 4 star with prices to match, but I would say it is more 3 star.
I would return to Calvi again as it is beautiful, but not to Hotel Corsica.

My wife and I spent a week at Hotel Corsica at the end of May/beginning of June. This is before the season gets in to full swing and therefore the hotel was not very busy - ideal for us looking for a bit of peace and quiet. The rooms were clean and comfortable with air conditioning and plenty of cupboard space. The staff were all eager to help - most spoke some English but those who didn't were very patient. Only minor criticism is that the food in the hotel was very expensive for what it was, which meant we decided to eat out most nights (we only went Bed and Breakfast). The situation of the hotel is good, with excellent views across to Calvi and the harbour. As we hired a car, the trip in was only 10 minutes - but even without a car there is a free shuttle bus making the trip every hour. Overall - very satisfied.

Room Tip: Better views cost more money! Swimming pool shuts at 9pm so as not to disrupt the peace of the guest...

We have stayed at the Hotel for 3 times and always enjoy our stay.
The hotel is very well placed just up the hillside in Calvi and has lovely views over the bay and citadel.
We always try to stay in the rooms overlooking the swimming pool as these have the best views but they are a little bit more expensive.
The hotel runs a free shuttle bus to and from the airport and into town or the beach so getting around is very easy.
The hotel is very quiet off season in May June and September which for us are the best times to go as the sun is so hot during the Summer.
This year we went on some beautiful walks in the mountains and along the peninsula around Calvi which have superb views (well worth the hikes).
The staff in the hotel are very good, particularly Katie and Laura, who always try to help and make your stay so enjoyable.
Definitely going back next year.

Room Tip: Go for a room overlooking the pool as they have great views of Calvi
