My wife and I traveled to agalia for our second stop in a trip around the greek islands. This was by far our favorite place.
1. Private yacht.
It turned out the day we were supposed to travel from mykonos to ios there was a ferry strike. Agalia had contacted us the night before we were supposed to check in to tell us that the strike was still on and that they were going to try to find a way to get us to ios from mykonos. A few hours later they emailed us and said they were going to send their “private yacht” to pick us up in the old port of mykonos free of charge. So we made our way to the port the next morning still unsure on how it would all unfold with hundreds of travelers trying to find a way to their next destinations. We were told to look for a black boat “targa 44”. Sure enough after looking around for about 40 mins we see a boat coming to the dock. Keep in mind there was hundreds of people in the port along with 5-6 cruise ships, it was chaos.
We still werent sure exactly if that boat was for us but we made our way threw the crowds and ask if he was captain george, he was so we took off feeling like royalty while everyone was standing at the doc baffled on how we were boarding this private yacht. We picked up a few more guest on other islands, then we made our way to agalia. Drinks and food also were on board.
2. Hotel.
Upon arrival we were welcomed with amazing hospitality. No check in required they took us right to our room to drop our luggage off and take a minute to change and meet by the pool for a information session about the hotel and the island.
The rooms were HUGE and luxurious with service twice a day. We had room 1 which had an amazing view of the sunset along with agalia’s other properties ( pathos, erego).
3. Food.
The food was great. Breakfast buffet had a wide variety of options. We also ate one night at the resto which was also good. Not many choices but still bery good.
4. Pool and grounds.
The pool is great with alot of sunchairs around along with a few straw beds to chill out and watch the ferries come in and out of the port. Towels on every chair. You really didnt have to worry about anything while staying at agalia.
5. Pathos.
Agalia’s other properties were the restaurant beach bar “erego” as well as lounge pathos which has in my opinion the best sunset in greece. ( i was also in santorini ) but pathos takes the cake for me. Because we were clients of agalia we got treated like royalty at pathos.
6. Final thoughts.
I 10000% will come back here next time i travel to ios. They are also building a five star hotel connecting the restaurant to pathos in the near future which i would love to stay at when its all finished. Highly recommended this magical place to everyone traveling to ios.
Best wishes
