Unforgettable honeymoon at agalia.

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Sep 23, 2018via mobile
My wife and I traveled to agalia for our second stop in a trip around the greek islands. This was by far our favorite place.

1. Private yacht.
It turned out the day we were supposed to travel from mykonos to ios there was a ferry strike. Agalia had contacted us the night before we were supposed to check in to tell us that the strike was still on and that they were going to try to find a way to get us to ios from mykonos. A few hours later they emailed us and said they were going to send their “private yacht” to pick us up in the old port of mykonos free of charge. So we made our way to the port the next morning still unsure on how it would all unfold with hundreds of travelers trying to find a way to their next destinations. We were told to look for a black boat “targa 44”. Sure enough after looking around for about 40 mins we see a boat coming to the dock. Keep in mind there was hundreds of people in the port along with 5-6 cruise ships, it was chaos.
We still werent sure exactly if that boat was for us but we made our way threw the crowds and ask if he was captain george, he was so we took off feeling like royalty while everyone was standing at the doc baffled on how we were boarding this private yacht. We picked up a few more guest on other islands, then we made our way to agalia. Drinks and food also were on board.

2. Hotel.
Upon arrival we were welcomed with amazing hospitality. No check in required they took us right to our room to drop our luggage off and take a minute to change and meet by the pool for a information session about the hotel and the island.
The rooms were HUGE and luxurious with service twice a day. We had room 1 which had an amazing view of the sunset along with agalia’s other properties ( pathos, erego).

3. Food.
The food was great. Breakfast buffet had a wide variety of options. We also ate one night at the resto which was also good. Not many choices but still bery good.

4. Pool and grounds.
The pool is great with alot of sunchairs around along with a few straw beds to chill out and watch the ferries come in and out of the port. Towels on every chair. You really didnt have to worry about anything while staying at agalia.

5. Pathos.
Agalia’s other properties were the restaurant beach bar “erego” as well as lounge pathos which has in my opinion the best sunset in greece. ( i was also in santorini ) but pathos takes the cake for me. Because we were clients of agalia we got treated like royalty at pathos.

6. Final thoughts.
I 10000% will come back here next time i travel to ios. They are also building a five star hotel connecting the restaurant to pathos in the near future which i would love to stay at when its all finished. Highly recommended this magical place to everyone traveling to ios.

Best wishes
Mike & Andrea

Absolutely amazing. Huge, huge rooms (MUCH bigger than we've seen in other comparable Greek hotels), incredible attention to detail, glorious private pools to watch the ferries and yachts come and go from, lovely big pool with floats and views too. Tremendous service, from turndown, water and ice-water face towels beside the pool, offers of face cream, insect repellent...

We (family of four, kids 7 and 10) *loved* the breakfast buffet; the main hotel restaurant menu for snack and meals was a bit limited (dishes cooked really well, but range of choices really didn't impress) but as a quick and easy option they worked and there are tavernas within 7-8 mins walk so no hardship.

We didn't really take in the Agalia's shared-ownership connection to the Erego beach bar (and the Pathos Lounge, though we didn't go there) til near the end of our stay - sadly, because the Erego was absolutely brilliant. Better menu, amazing vibe and location, and truly gorgeous pool with a beach right alongside also. If you're staying at Agalia take the time to walk down (<10 mins) to the Erego early in your trip!

The hotel has a number of cats/kittens living on the grounds as is common in Greece - I have to say this made my 7 year old's holiday... she spent every spare moment sitting with them quietly in spots around the grounds, concealing bits of her souvlaki to take back and share with them, etc. They were very cute.

Room tip: Range of different rooms - they all look great but quite different experiences!

The whole Agalia team worked hard to make our stay as comfortable as possible - nothing was too much, they even bought us a snorkeling mask as we forgot to take our from home.

All rooms are very spacious - we started with 2 nights at the Suite with Private Pool and Sea View which have been outstanding and had also 2 nights at the Senior Suite with Hill View which was also extremely spacious and had a lovely view.

The main swimming pool is outstanding, private pools in certain suites are also great, Food is also high quality. Excellent stay overall!

It’s one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in Greece for summer holidays! Clean with friendly and smiley people wherever you go. The hotel itself has the perfect location on the island and, if you stay at the upper hillside villas, you’ll enjoy an amazing sunset. All pools and the outside area are very clean. The hotel’s staff always eager to offer their best service from restaurant reservations to room service. My daughter had a special diet to follow and the chef was super nice to accommodate her. He cooked her meal on spot with our specific guidelines and made a six year old very happy!!
The only thing I would like to improve is the breakfast meal. It would be nice to have something different each day regarding freshly cooked dishes.
It’s the best place to stay if you ever visit Ios!!

Big rooms, very modern decoration, spacy balcony looking over the port of Ios, perfect service in a bright new hotel. We experienced privilege service as residents of the hotel in three other locations, Free in Mylopotas, Erego in Koumpara & the unique, perfect sunset in Pathos as VIP guests.
The experience was amazing, we enjoyed a lot in Ios mainly due to our choice to stay in Agalia!
