The resort is very clean, well built with an eye for the detail and has a beautiful garden and pool which are frequently taken care of - big plus.
You can expect very nice, spacious rooms with excellent facilities and a big comfy bed.
The personnel is very friendly, but except for the receptionists the staff is not very competent. They really try hard but most of them neither speak english nor have experienced a proper education for their jobs. Ergo, the service is slow and sometimes a little clumsy because you do not get what you thought you ordered or they just forget stuff. That is a real downside.
The hotel is quite far from Chiang Mai which I was aware of when I booked it. So there's not complaint there regarding the location. Yet, I expected the hotel to have a scooter or car rental available on site. There is none.
Meaning, if you want to escape the resort you either take the shuttle (goes to Chiang Mai daily at 10 a.m. and 3. p.m., but only picks you up once per day at 4 p.m.. If you want to see the night market you'll need to catch a taxi back which cost us like 1500 thb) or you take the bikes to explore the area. The bikes are in an OK condition but too small for grown ups and all tires are low on pressure - the pump to fix this does not work). Also a big con.
Breakfast was included but pretty poor. Just toast, sausage and egg, but no cheese. Fruit only available when you ask for it, the juice is this artificially tasting stuff you usually find in low bugdet hotels across europe. The coffee is good, though, and they have real milk.
For dinner the restaurant is nice (except for the slow service) and the food is really tasty. I would have enjoyed street food a bit more, though, but that's my personal opinion. So this is an upside, actually.

This resort could be really, really great if it did some little improvement because there's really high potential there. Right now I would not go there again because of the aforementioned aspects.

By the end of our visit I filled out the form with my review and asked them to contact me if they wanted to hear about my tipps for improvement. I have not received a call yet.

Room tip: Upper level so you'll have a view over the wall that was built around the property.

We have stayed at this resort twice, once in July 20/23 and against August 19/21. First time just my wife and I and 2nd visit with our two teenage daughters (we took a family suite - great value). We were impressed with the resort on many fronts. It does have some challenges, distance from the city being one of them, but for the quiet tranquil peace it provides its absolutely worth it. Check in was smooth and easy on both occasions (we book with AGODA and pay for room/tax/breakfast in advance). The rooms are nicely laid out and well appointed although they do have their quirks. Bathroom mirrors could do with having a light above them for one, the outside light beaming into the bedroom is controlled by a switch outside, going out to find it in the middle of the night is an adventure. The pillows need to have some lower options for those that don't like the tall firmer pillows. In the standard villa rooms there is plenty of space for a comfortable sofa and a small table/chairs to sit at inside and this could be added. If you drive there the parking is limited but it works with the security guards coordinating everything. Breakfast is a little limited, but still reasonable. Jam is not high quality, options are limited, only serve pressed processed ham and chicken sausages on hot buffet with mangled fried eggs, but we were able to order freshly poached eggs instead which overcame that. Juice, cereal and breads a plenty, and some nice Asian breakfast options. Add ons for coffee is possible to get a freshly brewed one and was worth it. Swimming pool is beautifully created within the landscape of pathways and gardens to the rooms. Overall we love this resort and will stay there again. Finding our way there on several different routes from Chiang Mai was part of our adventure, the scenery around the area was beautiful and worth the time to drive around, stop and take a look at local life.

Room tip: Family villa suite is great value

My mother and I stayed here for 6 nights after being in the city for 6 nights. As advertised we thought it would be very relaxing, have a massage, go to the spa, have some nice dinners and swim in the pool. What a let down!

We stayed for 6 nights so had airport transportation included ( which they don't tell everyone -other guests were not aware) but useful to know as it actually costs 1,000 baht to get there and no taxi driver really knows where it is. After emailing multiple times I eventually got a reply saying that they would pick us up from our hotel in town at 3pm which we had kindly requested. However 3pm came and went and eventually after phoning our hotel a number of times they showed up at 4:45, refused to drive down the side street near our hotel so we had to carry our heavy bags to meet them ( all our other tour companies had managed to drive down there)

We arrived at the hotel, and included in our deal was 15per cent off a spa, however even though advertised there was no spa! We also asked for a map of the area for walks which they did not have, and after reading reviews was under the impression you could book tours from the hotel, however there was no tour counter. There was a room that said tours but no tour counter or anyone there all week. We wanted to go to the national park and they said we had to go from the city centre, and they found us someone to take us. We also had to pay them 1400 baht to have transport to the city centre and back. Anyway we booked our tour for later in the week.
When the day arrived they dropped us in town, and to be picked up at 6pm. When 5:30 arrived after our tour operator calling them as we did not trust they would be there, they said they could not pick us up till 7, after a very long day and being very tired and paying for this service booked 3 days in advanced we were less than impressed. After complaining, to which there response was to apologise and laugh they did give it to us for free, but we would have rather been back in time.

Now to mention the real bad point... The food and restaurant. Words cannot describe how bad this was. Our first night I had the pasta which cost 3 times the meal in the city and was smaller than a handful with some tomato sauce. After that I stuck to Thai food. I'm vegetarian and there is pretty much nothing on the menu that is vegetarian. Trying to find someone that would understand the word vegetarian was even harder. The meals are very much overpriced and not as tasty as the food you have in town. With staff that cannot understand English.

The breakfast was limited, and very naughty they had things that you could have but you had to ask for them, which they did not advertise. For example no fruit was put out but you could ask for it, same as boiled eggs, cappucino, scrambled eggs. If you didn't know then you would be stuck with waffles or processed ham or fried egg with toast for the whole week. The coffee when it came was cold and they said the machine was broken most of the week.
We also asked for some wine with our meal, we tried 3 bottles and they were all bad. We found one bottle on one night but then they couldn't find it again the next day. Stick to the beer!

In addition there is meant to be a rock bar and an Irish bar but these are closed at the moment I guess because of the low season. We asked for them to open it to play snoker but they refused.

The pool is nice and the accommodation is clean and it is in the middle of the mountains so nice for a wonder into the countryside.

I would only stay here if you have rented a car (as the shuttle and taxi they provide is so unreliable) and plan to go into the city for dinner every night. Then this place is very relaxing and very nice pool to sit next too and swim. However bear in mind that the city is an hour drive and I'm not sure how easy it is to park.

We stayed for 2nights from 12nd to 14th August 2016.
Here is far away from the city where is almost 40km or more.
A purpose of the hotel guest is enjoy in the nature.
So, here is not appropriate location for sightseeing in the city.
There is not public traffic system also.
We did not hesitate to choice a rent a car from airport for approaching to there.
There is beautiful rice terraces and tropical jungles and hot springs.
A car is most effective for enjoying to here.
Frankly speaking.
Actually here is resort hotel.
But here is not mega resort like an international hotel chain.
There is not Club Med.
So, we could be get bored very much if just stay at the here without go to outside.
I cannot image without rent a car available for stay here.

By the way.
My hotel review is almost perfect.
The cost performance is quite a high.
We stayed 916 room which is cheapest category.
However, it was bigger than I expected.
Restaurant was also beyond of my expected.
We tried Europeans food like a French cuisine style.
The taste was international level.
A young sheff has a good talent and creating to beautiful dishes.
Specially, desserts was remarkable for us.

In other hand,
I would like to provide a negative comment as follows.

ABF was not variety.
There is not provide a salads or vegetables.
Sausage and ham were very poor quality.
Probably, there was purchased from a supermarket.

Poor travel information.
As I wrote an above.
Hotel staff should be know more travel information specially around the hotel such as a national park or hot springs or something.
I asked someone but I did not get an effective information from them.

Overall, there negative opinion is very small issue for us.
Unwavering to choosing here for us.
I just looking for a next holiday to go to Chiang Mai for stay at the here again.

Room tip: All rooms are stay with comfortable
