“Lovely little place-short of nothing”

We stayed for the May Day BH weekend witt our two labradors. We wanted a location close to Runswick Bay as teh dogs ( and us ) love it there.
It is a small cottage that does sleep four but it would have been a bit of a squash in the kitchen. Nice stable door from the kitchen to a safe, small clean courtyard at the front.
There is no back door. There is a bedroom on the 1st floor and a bathroom and a larger more airey room on the 2nd floor with a fantasticly comfy big bed. The stairs are quite narrow and on a turn to get up there.
The lounge is lovely with a wood burning stove, throws to protect the furniture if dogs do go on the settees-ours didnot go on.
There was tea, coffe, milk , cake, biscuits and fresh free range eggs waiting for us which was a wonderful surprise.
Although there are no shops in walking distance, you couldn't be any closer to a pub-right next door , but very quiet. There is parking for 1 car which can be a bit of a squeeze if the pub is busy.
The interior design and little touches make the place feel really homely and comfortable. I was it was mine !!
I would definetely stay there again and recommend it.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on your holiday, we are so pleased you enjoyed it! It is great to hear that Holme Cottage was such a lovely place to stay whilst you and your dog enjoyed Runswick Bay, and that you had everything you needed to hand there. We certainly hope you return for another stay soon!

A previous reviewer ( Rebecca, Rutland) sums this property up very well...the owners have evidently put time and love (the family history linked to the cottage makes fascinating reading) into this property. All needs are very well catered for which leaves you able to relax completely..it truly felt a welcoming place to stay. In other rentals you can feel you are making compromises, but not here, the kitchen is well stocked with equipment, down to sandwich boxes, egg cups, a steamer...maybe not high on all peoples lists, but made us happy. The bathroom is spacious, light, with views to the sea, a fab shower and lovely vintage rolltop bath. Ugthorpe is a lovely spot, great for accessing the beaches etc or for rambles along the lanes or footpaths if you want a car free day. Despite its rural location the Wi-Fi was excellent, I could stream films with ease, and for my husband who is permanently stuck to his mobile the signal was very good...but really there is so much to explore here we did not use these much. Julie the owner is lovely, and made sure we were settled in, leaving us with fresh farm eggs and cake as a welcome. I nearly forgot two other things, the bed was fantastic, we really slept well...and the pub is literally next door, it is very popular for meals, has great staff, does take a ways, but there was no noise disturbing us at night. Overall I would thoroughly recommend it, the visitor book has several comments from returning guests, which says it all.

Really nice little cottage in a small village on the Moors. Tasteful mix of trad and modern, comfy throughout. Kitchen and bathroom clean and well equipped. Very homely and cosy. Wifi was reliable as promised. We met the owner too, who cares if you have a good time. We did.

My wife and I are just about to leave from a four day break in this cottage - it is clean - beautifully decorated and luxuriously furnished - the attention to detail is fabulous in this cottage and the owners have clearly spent a lot of time and money in renovating this quaint cottage - the stairs are a bit steep and the pub next door does a lovely pint but as long as you don't over Indulge too much are fine. The coal burner is almost too efficient - in summary loved it loved it loved it and can't wait to come back !!!

We have returned this afternoon from a weeks stay in this beautiful, charming, quaint, homeley, unique cottage. The freshly baked scones on arrival, the fresh eggs ready on the kitchen table, the log fire at the ready, beautifully warm, lovely fluffy towels, fantastic quality beds, pillows like clouds (will be buying some the same asap!!), clean and utterly charming. Loved the owners beautiful home made curtains, door stops, wall decorations, amazing and will definately be stealing some of her ideas!! We have loved staying here any we're already looking into booking again for Oct/Nov. The most beautiful location, handy for all the places we love to go, Sandsend, Saltburn, Whitby, NYMR, Runswick Bay, Robin Hoods Bay. I would recommend this cottage to everybody and would tell them not to hesitate in booking. The only possible issue is the steep twisty stairs but this just added another charm for us!! Just gorgeous!! Can't wait to be there again later this year.

we stayed here over a long weekend for a wedding anniversary and we were very impressed with the old charm of the cottage even though it was right bang upto date with all its decor and equpment.
the owner had very kindly left a nice welcoming pack and a card with some good info to help our stay.
a small quiet village yet close enough for easy access to whitby and the coast.
we will stay here again and would recommend to anyone
