I am just back from a weekend trip here with my wife. We got a really good deal on Groupon for here so decided to have a relaxing break away.

I never like to complain about things but it was almost a great trip.

Firstly, the positives: The hotel is cosy and welcoming and all of the staff seem very friendly, helpful and professional. The rooms are nice and comfy and the bathrooms are nice. My wife used the spa there and said it was amazing and they couldn't have done enough for her and she really enjoyed it. The pool is very nice too and the outdoor hot tub is cool.
The food in both the bar and restaurant is of a very high quality and the service in the bar and restaurant is great too. Really enjoyed dinners in the restaurant and lunches in the bar. The breakfast is very good too, much the same as most decent hotels. The gym is too small and stuffy.

Heres where my problem is, and I must stress I really don't like to complain about hotels. At nightime it is very hard to get a good sleep, the rooms are not soundproofed enough and you can hear people talking in the rooms beside you, you can hear most doors opening and closing on your floor, noise from the rooms above and below. It is a MASSIVE problem, we went away for a relaxing break and ended up coming back exhausted due to a lack of sleep which was very unsatisfactory. I mean im not even talking about partys that were going on, drunken people, etc,(cos u get that at any hotel and that's not hotels fault), its just regular noise of people opening/closing doors, people in the rooms beside you talking!!On both nights we got very little sleep as the noise problems can go to 1am in the morning and start again at 7am. People go to hotel breaks to relax and a big part of that is to get a good sleep, the hotel must realise this.

If the hotel rectifies this, they are on to winner but until then I wont be returning because of this, its a pity as so much of what they are doing is right

We have been in this hotel a few times, but this was our first time staying here. We got a deal online and it was great value for money. The staff were exceptional from arrival to departure, they couldn't do enough for you! We had a meal on the saturday night and the food was lovely and plentiful, the waitress Rachel, looked after all the demands, of our two young sons!! Leitrim is not a county many would think of visiting, and long may this last, as it is a very beautiful unspoilt part of Ireland. The people down here are so genuine and welcoming and if you take the time to explore, there is plenty to do. Carrick on Shannon is only about 5 miles from the hotel and is a buzzing town with everything you would want. We usually camp down this way but as we got such a good deal and the weather is so bad, we decided to stay in the hotel instead. If you want 5 star luxury with 5 star prices, this is not the hotel for you, but if you want value in an authentic part of Ireland, you won't go far wrong here.

Stayed here on a groupon deal, staff very professional, food absolutely delicious & rooms spacious comfy & clean. We had a lovely weekend break, thank you. There was a great buzz around the hotel. I loved the pool, sauna & steam. Just a pity the hot tub wasnt working, but this didn't take away from our stay.

Arrived late afternoon and was booked in by very professional lady at reception ande allocated a room on the third floor. Room fine - loved the patio doors to the small balcony. Details of the hotel infa-structure etc not in room, but provided verbally at reception. Went for a swim etc in the leisure facilities but water a bit cold so we went for a hot tub which was lovely. Sauna not operating so we used the steam room - again this was fine. Decided to eat at the Rushes Restaurant with our discount voucher - three course set meal was good and staff really pleasant and professional. Next day - woken early by room staff who were stationed beside our room and who then tried to enter or room at 0830!! - no "Do not disturb" sign in room to deploy. Breakfast was very busy and we had to queue to get seated - staff were excellent - so hard working. Generally hotel was busy but bar area in evening somewhat small - room heating was also a bit of an issue as the heating was a bit hit/miss. Overall a great break and very good value for money. Hotel well positioned beside Lough Allen but oh dear the near by village of Drumshanbo was like a ghost town - totally ravaged by the recession which seems to have hit this area very hard - sad to see. Went on a day trip to Carrick-on-Shannon which was OK - plenty of pubs and places to eat and drink coffee. Local cinema was also fine - €8.60 entry but modern and well run. Not a massive lot to do but fine for a few days away.

Room Tip: Don't get one beside the service room which is at the end of each corridor - also make sure you...

stayed here for two nights with some friends. Lovely location, right on the lakeshore. Staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. Breakfast and dinner were first class and the hotel was spotlessly clean. A short walk takes you into the village of Drumshambo where there are a few local pubs but little else. We did not use the spa but it looked fab and there is an outside hot tub overlooking the lake. I would recomend this hotel for a quiet break because there is little to do here but relax!

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear have lake views.
