Description: A picturesque 14th Century pub situated in a small village near the town of Faversham. Surrounded in history the pub dates back to the 1300's and still contains many original features. The pub offers a selection of traditional english food alongside the frequently changing seasonal specials. Facilities include an upstairs restaurant, availiable for dining or large functions, a front patio overlooking the church and village green and a well established pub garden with many historical features and a large play area for children.

Visited with family, 6 of us in all. Our food was very bland, more school dinner than gastro pub. The fish of the day was served in a bowl, a huge pile of undercooked vegetables with fish plonked on top, covered in a tomato sauce. The Thai chicken curry was also a let down, served with plain boiled rice with prawn crackers stuck in the curry. Two of our party had apple crumble and custard which seemed as if it had been dished up earlier and microwaved (the custard had a skin on it). We all left feeling very dissappointed. Needless to say, we won't be back....................

We have visited several times with family and friends over the past year. The latest visit was with my walking group for lunch with over 30 people covered. The pub did us proud. Excellent food, promptly served with good beer. What more can you ask for..

good friends recommend the Red Lion and I'm pleased to say we went and were not disappointed. The service was excellent,we found it refreshing to be served by staff who happy polite and helpful. The food was also very good,my husband had lovely sausages and he was pleased to be able to find out where they came from so we could always go and buy some. I had Lamb shank which was cooked to perfection just falling off the bone. We will be going again thank u x

I know the Red Lion well and occasionally pop in for a drink with friends. Being a free house, the variety of beers is excellent. As far as the restaurant is concerned, I would love to be able to sing its praises, but I just don't feel I can.

Our most recent visit was a month or so ago and although the food was perfectly edible and well enough cooked, it was painfully bland, especially the veg which seemed to have come straight from the microwave. My lamb shank was not of a very good quality, and although of a reasonable size, was drowned in a very strong flavoured gravy which completely destroyed the flavour of the meat. We didn't stay for dessert!

This is a success story waiting to happen. The building and its surroundings are idylic, the pub is great, but the restaurant desperately needs a makeover.
