For a 4* hotel my partner and I were disappointed with our two night weekend b&b stay at this hotel. We stayed in an superior room, which in all honesty wasn't any better than a standard travel lodge room. The quality of the food wasn't good either. Raw salmon on the Friday night that had to be sent back, & breakfast on Sunday morning which was very disappointing. No juices, glasses & had to wait 15 mins to be seated for breakfast. All in all, we didn't consider it value for money. Especially the £77 meal for two on Friday night. The local pub food was much better quality & better value. A lovely location but we would seriously question staying again.

Dear Pashino, thank you for taking the time to review your experience. I am disappointed that your time at Hellidon Lakes was overshadowed by your experience in the restaurant. The dish was incorrectly served and i would like to apologise again for this short fall, the Restaurant and Bars Manager did address this issue immediately, the dish was replaced and a bottle of wine was accepted as a form of an apology. I do hope you will return to Hellidon Lakes some time in the future, when i spoke to you on Saturday evening you both seemed impressed with our range of facilities including the golf course, Leisirue Club and Bowling Alley.

Thank you for your feedback

Kind regards

just returned from a weekend away at Hellidon Lakes, nice hotel with excellent attentive staff from reception, food and beverage and house keeping. Nicer bar areas and adequate swimming pool area. Restaurant service was good, dinner food was adequate and tasty but missed that wow factor (i,e. bread rolls were frozen, pasty case for a starter was frozen, apples in crumble were tinned). Breakfast buffet was very good. As mentioned in other reviews rooms are very good size and bed was very comfortable.

I visted the hotel for a Spa Day on the 02/02/13, the Spa day ended up being a very costly fair as drinks are not icluded in the price and there is nothing to do once your treatment is over.

The pool area was dirty and small, they had 6 loungers around the pool which we couldn't use as the windows had been jammed open to clear the condensation making it very cold. The jaqcuizzi remainded in use during our visit so we couldn't enjoy that and the stream room had no steam, who wants to sit in a damp room.

We changed and headed to the lounge for a coffee, costing £9 for 3. Waited until our very standard ''canteen'' lunch was served (jacket potatoes, beans, cheese and tuna) then we left.

We had to search the hotel for a member of staff whenever we needed anything, the Spa has no relaxtion room and nothing to do after the treatment. my treatment was constantly interupted by steam keeping the hot stones warm - I did not have a hot stone massage. When we asked what else we could do we were told ''go for a walk''. Which isn't what we paid £210 for.

Very disppointing experince, I would not recommend.

Room Tip: We didn't stay so can;t comment on the rooms

Dear guest,

I am disappointing to read your comments, and not to our usual standards. Indeed our spa is very popular and the feedback is normally very positive. We will contact you and I am sure that we will be able to restore your faith.

I've stayed here a few times whilst travelling on business. From check in to bed time it's a pleasure to be there. The gym, whilst feeling compact due to the ceiling height, is well equipped and better than many proper gyms. I've only eaten in the bar, which in itself is cosy and welcoming, the menu is basic but meets the needs and is very well presented and tasty. The burger and fish and chips both well worth a try.

What a fantastic place for a corporate (or family) gathering! From the moment we arrived the staff were friendly and attentive. We had fun at the bowling alley, took advantage of the pool, gym and spa treatments and then gathered in a lovely pair of rooms for bubbly and canapés round a roaring fire followed by an excellent meal. Gordon (restaurant manger?) looked after us extremely well. He got into the spirit of our very late Christmas party and even found some suitable table decorations. Most important of all the service was discrete, efficient and attentive and we were able to do as we pleased, finally retiring at about 2 a.m.!
It was very good value for money and we will definitely be back. Thank you very much.

We have just returned from an "Fantatic Friday Feeling" special offer that we took advantage of to celebrate with 2 other couples our joint 20th Wedding Anniversaries. We decided as it was a special occasion to splash out a bit and booked a suite. Well what can I say, the suite itself was enormous, hallway, toilet, lounge and then bedroom with large bed, bathroom with another toilet, Bath and walk in shower, two tv's, sky box and free Wi Fi thought the hotel. So pleased we did this. Also complimentary in the room was bottle of wine, nuts and chocolates and another plesant surprise, Fresh Milk in the fridge instead of that horrible long life stuff you normally get in hotels. The other 2 couples booked the superior rooms which although nice, did not compare to the suite, had no extra little touches like the wine etc and did not cost that much less. Dinner was nice although not fantastic, however all of us found something we liked on the menu and the head waiter on the night was extra helpfull and went out of his way to make our stay even more enjoyable. The reception staff were also very friendly, helpful and courteous. We also visited the Spa and took up a special offer of a facial and massage and all the staff in the spa were also very courteous. Breakfast was buffet with plenty of choice and regular replensiment and other choices of eggs cooked to order. Fantastic value for money, and would recommend to anybody who fancies a night away without the kids!

Booked a spa day here for my mums 60th birthday and was very impressed. The girls in the spa were very enthusiastic and couldnt do enough to help, especially Steph who did my treatments. We had a lunch included which consisted of a choice of sandwiches/salad and a dessert. The chicken caeser salad was fantastic.
The only downside is my brother struggled to find any lockers that worked in the mens changing rooms and when he did find one it didnt lock securely. Although most of the lockers worked in the ladies, they didnt look very secure to leave your belongings in all day.

Overall though, my mum really enjoyed her birthday treat and was a nice relaxing day overall.
