The Cove isn't only a magnificent hotel-resort property and restaurant, it is a complete experience of the senses....The location on the Carribean side of Eleuthera near Gregory's town is spectacular with turquoise blue waters, ragged cliffs and powdery sand beaches...Not far away Surfer's beach is a must, isolated and beautiful too....But let's get back to the Cove, first of all the restaurant is open to the public, and it is a huge plus ! You will scramble in Eleuthera and drive great distances for rather mediocre fried local food at exorbitant prices (spinach dip for 18 bucks!!!) The Cove is totally worth the drive, the property is gorgeous and brand spanking new, the cocktail bar at the point where you can watch dolphins jumping (and we did) or the most spectacular sunsets is purely SEXY....Nearby the main restaurant a few yards away, completed with a negative edge pool and superb decking is waiting for you...The main dining is elegant, minimalist and cooling with white tones and blue accent everywhere...
The table setting includes beautiful silverware from Ferraro, gorgeous China and quality linen, and that is just the beginning of a great dining experience...
The menu is absolutely magnificent, we dined 4 times there last week and here some of the items we had :
Jumbo shrimp pan seared with sambal pineapple glaze...awesome
Crabcake served with Belgium endive and arugula chiffonade...THE BEST(better than RN in Las Vegas)
The romaine salad was so fresh and tasty, simple pleasure, still excellent.
The conch fritters are delicious and served with a Cognac based cocktail sauce...OH Yeah!
The English pea soup with creme fraiche is just perfect.
Grilled octopus salad with chilled pine nuts couscous salad was so tender and tasty, incredible.
Then we sampled some main courses :
Vegetarian Risotto was a special, really adequate in taste and lighter finish.
The Singapore noddles with veggies was so delicious, i am running out of words...
The seafood pasta with fresh crab meat, shrimp, mussels and scallops will blow your taste buds to Nirvana.
The Bahamian Grouper with ginger-soy glaze over Avocado fried rice is top notch...
The pan seared Mahi with a sweet chili mango glaze over jasmine rice was awesome, the fish in this fine restaurant is always cooked P>E>R>F>EC>T.
Desserts? why not !
Coconut cheesecake with raspberry sorbet was 10/10.
The fresh fruit bread pudding with creme Anglaise is orgasmic.
And finally the key lime pie is second to best anywhere in this galaxy (next to the fish house in Key largo)....
The service is impeccable swift and efficient, we had a young Bahamian lady Doris who was wonderful and attentionate, as well a gentleman from Bhutan, Gembo, a wonderful individual with great attention to service and details.
Todd and "EO" (bartender) were tremendous as well as the doorman at the property entrance ! Just drive toward the closed gate and they will open up and help you with anything you might want to ask !!!
Rarely will you observe such amount of professionalism in resorts around the Carribean...This is no accident...
The owner Mr Sidney Torres and his team have all the reasons to be proud of his achievement, this was to my girlfriend and i a very memorable and pleasant experience, Thank you Sir for your vision and perseverance, you have a GEM.
The cocktails are terrific, the wine list is good (it is still the outer Bahamas) and some wines are worth a definite try such as the Chateau D'Esclans "whispering Angels" rose, it is divine.
You can go many places in eleuthera and spend the same amount of money or slightly less for sub standard food, do yourself a favor and drive up to the Cove and try it, once, and you will love the unforgettable experience...
