Nice hotel, sited in on arm of Serra da Estrela, 15min away from Covilhã, and 3h and a half away from Oporto. The rooms aren't large but enough unless you want to dance inside. Soft bed and pillows. Free safe in the room as well as free wi-fi (you have to ask for password at the front desk). Large bathroom, with hairdryer, shampoo, shower gel, hair protection... less value point: tube with textile curtains. Nice and large balcony with 2 chairs and a table. Slippers and robe available at your arriving. Be careful where you left them by the pool. we were robbed... although, we asked for another pair, which was given in spite of not having the same number... The dinner/luch room is larger with at least 4 choices, for 20€ pax, drinks not included. The breakfast is in the same room and it's plenty, with nice pastry, and fresh fruits. It's american style breakfast, with eggs, bacon, bread, toast, sausages, mushrooms..... the poll is the main attraction! large, with connection with outside, warm, and with cervical water jets. The worst part is that this jets are not always switched on and you can't control them... every few minutes, they switch off and others switch on... same with the jacuzzi, sited in the first floor. There are also an hammam, contrast showers, turkish bath and some other facilities. Opens at 10am and closes at 8pm. There are also a spa, an hairdresser and bike rental service. there is a lift which connects each floor with the pool/spa area at the end of each corridor.
The bar is a little is comfy, with a nice range of drinks and usually with live music or other entertainment activities! beside the bar there is a kids room, with video games, cinema and toys where you can, securely left your kids.
Large lobby, mixing old decoration with modern. Sometimes they fit, sometimes don't!
The staff is nice and they try to make your stay very pleasant.
The outside area, next to the bar is large, with modern garden furniture. Very nice place to read and contemplate the Mountain.
I would classify this hotel as a 4 stars in spite of being a 4 sup.
Over all, it's a pleasant hotel, in a nice place, away from the city and perfect for relax. the rates at weekend are lit bit high for what you get! don't forget! it's a 4 stars and not a 5! it's about 160€ for a double room with breakfast included, in april - mid season.

Regarding our daughter birthday (2 years) we went for a small break and we enjoy it all. That's the place you can make your check-in and walk around in bathrobe for all day, spending our time in the pool, thermal baths, saunas, enjoying the wide range of massages, or just relaxing. People use to go breakfast already in bathrobe, and the breakfast is very good. If you don't want to go to the pools or meet the countryside (walking, hiking, biking, running), you can go to the gym, but there's also places to check internet, play chess, read a book and a kids entertainment room. The staff was really friendly and helpfull. The location is perfect because is right in the foot of the mountain in the village of "Unhais da Serra", a place where you can look at the stars...For sure we will be back soon.

Excellent Hotel to stay for a few days. Huge offer to entertainment and relaxation. The pools are amazing. The architecture, both in the interior as outside, is very nice. All the staff was very kind and helpful. Definitely to repeat.

I Van say "a real spa"..
I felt very well in the body and mind since the first momento.
I stop smoking since the First day.
The trecking, the little mountain river (do not across).
For me is the best mountain place for stay and enjoy the portugueses mountains turism.
And the food at breakfast - the cheeses and the "doce de abóbora" , inforgetable.

In my personal opinion 2 - 3 days in this Hotel/Spa are much relaxing than a week or more in some paradisiac destinies.
This was our second time in H2Otel and although the neighbourhood villages and cities are beautifull our goal us simply to enjoy the Spa, thermal therapies, pools, sauna, hamman, etc... and of course the great food from Alquimia the restaurant.
Breakfast is included and it's great, vast and high quality food is served, either if you prefer the healthy aproach or the fattier but delicious heavy food from Beira Interior (region/local food). The same can be said about the buffet at dinner: not only vast, delicious and high quality but actually very creative (don't miss the chance to taste Suchi Serrano, or the fabulous local cheese), thus you have the opinion to go a La Carte.
Unfortunetly the same doesn't apply to the buffet at lunch where the food and variety served aren't worth the 20€ per person + beverages, we only lunched there once when arriving, the otehr days we did the same as the other time: sandwiches, soup and natural juices in the cafe at the Aquadome.
Both times we had great rooms, although this time we did heard some noise comming from the hall while trying to sleep, but we can't blame to the hotel management about other peoples bad behaviour.
In my opinion the valued paid for the stay was well worth it, although the fact that H2Otel is getting more and more popular by the day, and is a family/kids friendly hotel we didn't felt a bit disturbed by all those kids, our relaxing goal was mostly achieved. Actually what was disturbing was the attitud of some fancy/chic people (couples) that think they're kings of the world and so are allowed to make noises and disturb other people while passing by other rooms late at night, speak loudly on their mobiles while having dinner etc, but we can' do much about that and so doesn't the hotel management (maybe that's why we can see some negative critics about H2Otel in here).
To sum up, having to choose between paying the same money for a week during the summer in Algarve or south of Spain, or 3 nights at the H2Otel I wouldn't/don't think twice, I get much more relaxed, stress relieved and simply better after those 3 nights in this place than anywhere else.
