“Relaxing by the lake!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2013

This is the perfect place to relax and enjoy water sports. The apartments are perfect and the restaurant it is very good value for money. The beauty spot of the lake, the beauty of the property and the professionalism of the staff are good reasons for selecting this hotel.

This was a concept of closed condominium that was transformed in hotel some years ago.

The view over the dam is fantastic and the rooms / apartments are large and great.
It is starting to need some work of refreshment, specially on the outside.
The corridor to the bathhouse from the pool is long and freezing...

Overall it's a very good hotel with just a few drawbacks.

It was a great place to be with children's, the conditions of this hotel it's great in my opinion to family with children's because there was several area's thinking on children's special the swimming pools the green area's the children's parks and all the water activities. In my option the value of this hotel is grate in general. There was a box for your car and you also can use this to store your bikes for example, FYI the box have lock key. But there was points to be improved: and is the price of the dinners, in my opinion is very expensive for the products included, and the soundproof can be better, in the apartments because we lisetening the doors from the others apartments to be closed, and the people talking at night.

We stayed 5 nights in this hotel (two adults and two children), standing on a lovely location and with an interesting concept. Villas/apartments are spread all over the large area of the hotel's premises, and with fully equipped kitchen, individual garage for each apartment etc. The bed in the room was comfortable and the kids slept comfortably in the large sofabed available at the large living room.
Also the leisure areas were quite nice despite the wind blowing every afternoon near the main outdoor swimming pool (making the indoor pool a nice alternative). Apart from this, there's mini-golf, tennis and volleyball courts - apart of course from the spa that we didn't use. Interestingly enough, there's a kids club albeit only with one staff, which is a bit short in the peak of the summer, given the number of families with children staying there. However, she was very kind and atentive to kids.
Indeed, understaffing was a proeminent feature, clearly visible for instance in the restaurant and bar, as most of the employees seemed hired for the season only and not necessarily too experienced given some hesitations. This is clearly an aspect to highlight as the hotel would undoubtedly benefit from some improvement here.
Breakfast was great with plenty of choice of nice options including Portuguese traditional pastries, being replenished constantly. However the breakfast room became easily crowded at peak times and staff (again) seemed at times puzzled about how to manage tables' changing cloths and helping guests to have clean tables available at that critical time in the morning.
Also to be noted that wi-fi was free in the bar, and in rooms a cable was needed to access the web (provided at reception) and worked with good speed.
Also some boat trips are offered, as well as some nautical sports options at the Aguieira dam right in front of this porperty.
Lastly, to be noted that the location is quite convenient, in the heart of Portugal, at short driving distance from both Coimbra and Viseu.

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of a special deal. The resort is a village type of one, so they get a different classification system. You can't expect it to be like a 5 star hotel. Having said this, the resort is beautiful and well appointed. We stayed in a one bedroom with our 2 daughters. The room was nice enough, even though there were some nasty infiltrations surrounding one of the windows. Oddly the living room has a huge pillar in the middle. The mattress was way too bouncy and thin to get a good rest, but it was passable. The bathroom was fine but for one irritating detail: the toilet is 5cm from the cupboard, which means your left side has to touch it when you're using it. Tad uncomfortable. The kitchen has a fridge and washing machine (they provided detergent), a microwave, kettle and drip coffee machine. Nothing was provided for using these. These units were built 3 years ago but all they have is wired internet? Disappointing. Each room has its own parking box, which is too small to fit SUVs properly. Mine touched the ceiling with the rear door open.
Now the facilities. They're all located within the main building, which is a tad far, but nothing draining. There is a kids playground and mini-golf course and I believe some tennis courts as well.
The pools are big enough, but are not heated. The only heated one was semi-outside and oddly required the use of a cap. The other ones are nice enough and there's also a water playground with playful showers for kids. Bit slippery though. The BIG problem with the pool was the sun loungers, or lack of them. Because of this guess went to great lengths to secure a spot. Leaving just the hotel towel meant they would be removed so they left small items of personal stuff like magazines and floaters, etc. this meant that sometimes the pool area would be 95% empty but all the seats were taken. So I had to put my towels in the grass to be with my year old daughter without any shade. When I complained to the staff they shrugged and said there was nothing they could do. Pathetic. This bit kinda ruined the mood for me.
There is a kids club but its a very small, cramped room. A bit pathetic really.
The lunch and dinner buffets at the restaurant were pretty good and fairly priced at 12.50 or lunch and 17.50 for dinner. The staff was great. Breakfast was a bit of a mess with so many people. They were a bit understaffed at these moments. If you like full English they don't have it. And I was shocked to see they only offered plain cheese for breakfast. With so many great types of cheeses being done in villages nearby, this was almost a crime :) The milk and coffee machine was a nuisance to operate and you had to carry all your cups to your table. I much prefer the system with tiny pots on your table. The rest of what they offered was suitable, but nothing to write home about.
All in all a good stay in a beautiful setting.

This resort is placed in a beautiful (with all letters) landscape. The view to the Mondego river is a treat. It is perfectly suited for families, but would also provide good fun for others. Although a bit pricey and lacking something to make it a true 5 star, would go back.

The resort is made of a reception building where all services are held (breakfast, restaurant, swimming pool, SPA, etc).

Pros: nice breakfast, friendly staff, great outdoor swimming pool and surroundings (tennis, volleyball, sauna, Turkish bath, kid's park, etc).

Cons: mediocre house cleaning services, farthest apartments are far from the reception and all services are there.

Room Tip: Apartments closer to the reception are a better deal if you want to walk there (as you should, in a...

It's very well located, with a very beautiful view over the lake, and a lot of spaces to walk, run, swim, and boat riding. The apartments are very good, very comfortable, Breakfast is very good, and the spa, swiming pool and other spa instalations are very good. The best for a relaxing weeking, away from everything, to rest!
