Center Parcs Sherwood Forest
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed June 29, 2013

We've just got back from 4 days at Sherwood Forest. We had a Woodland Lodge and paid extra to be nearer the complex so we stayed at Maple 6. Lovely lodge with all mod cons, more than we expected but not much storage especially with our little 2 year old and all his bits and bobs!
I've been to Center Parcs before so knew how expensive it can be, so brought a box full of food and loo roll etc! For some reason you only get one loo roll per stay although you do get clean towels each time you get your room cleaned. You also get a little complimentary kit of tea towel, dishcloth, dishwasher tablets, tea, coffee and sugar which was nice.
Only free things at Center Parcs are the indoor pool area, kids play areas and indoor soft play areas which our little boy loved. Think you would end up spending a fortune if your kids were older and wanted to do all the activities because there are lots!
Supermarket on site is quite expensive but has some reasonably priced things. Take your own disposal bbqs as think they were £6.99 each or 2 for £10.00! You can buy them from the Poundshops!
Indoor pool area really good and loads of slides etc for all ages. Think opening at 10am is a bit late especially when you have kids that wake about 6am every morning! Kids get free use of life jackets so don't need to take your own. Water wasn't that warm when we were there though so ended up getting out early one day as we were cold.
Restaurants expensive for what you get. We only ate in Hucks, Sports Bar and Dexters. Dexters was the cheapest and best. Some have special offers on like 2-4-1 so look out for those to save you some money.
Take your own bikes as the price to hire is extortionate and the amount of free available bikes they have is a joke.
I went in the spa for 3 hours which think cost £35. Nice to have a chill out and it's very nice in there. About 15 different saunas/steam rooms etc to try.
Lovely to see all the wildlife around your lodge and you can feed them. We ended up having some baby geese in our lounge when we were feeding them bread!
All in all a good break, but would be even better if Center Parcs reduced their prices :-)

Room Tip: Pay a little extra to be closer to amenities as some of the lodges seem miles away.

My family and I have just returned from a mid week break. From the moment we arrived, we felt instantly relaxed. Every single member of staff was pleasant, attentive and genuine. The park was spotless and an absolute joy. I will not be seeking another holiday venue next year...it's Center Parcs for us!

Room Tip: Stay on the outskirts of the parc...nowhere is a long walk away - and it's so so peaceful

Fantastic for both couples retreats and family gatherings!
Recently visited Whinfell with my boyfriend, only to go to Sherwood a week later with all of his family!
The grounds are massive - plenty of walking to be done, but it never felt like a hike.
The villa was wooden, and didnt seem as modern from the outside, however, inside was decorated as modern. The 3 bedrooms were spacious, as was the villa overall. Top notch kitchen! 2 loos! Lovely shower.
Only thing a few of us noticed was that we didnt sleep well until the last night or so as we were so tired - we thought the duvets were quite heavy and noisy - trivial, i know, but thats the reason for the lower scoring of sleep quality on my ratings.
The sub tropical swimming paradise was amazing!! The rapids cannot be tired of! The flumes were fun too - although the pool was busy at times it never felt overcrowded.
Activities available can be expensive but if you book early morning they tend to be cheaper.

Awful. Accommodation damp and poorly maintained. Every thing cost extra and is generally overpriced. Activities are not available or close early, and restaurants have long waiting times for meals.Would never go again.

Room Tip: Any good rooms are extra money, Rip off.

We visited Centre Parcs - Sherwood Forest as a party of 6 in June to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary and a family members 18th Birthday. This was our 2nd visit this year and again we had a tremendous long weekend. Centre Parcs never fails to provide a fantastic time. We had a lovely 3 bedroom villa. CP allowed our daughter/boyfriend to have the villa early to put up surprise decorations for us and then delivered surprise wine and chocolates.
During our stay the 3 females in our party went to Aqua Sana for a full body detox and facial. 2 of us had a wonderful time but a 3rd member didn't have the same experience. However, the deputy manager (Anne) was fantastic and after listening attentively to our issues offered either a 50% refund or the opportunity for the treatment to be carried out again. This was taken up and the treatment was perfect. Anne also organised for us to have complimentary hot chocolates in the restaurant. Customer service like this meant that we had nothing but praise for Anne and the team at Aqua Sana - it was really appreciated.
My husband and I also visited Aqua Sana for a half day session using the steam rooms, pool and sleeping areas. This is something we particularly enjoy at CP and again we had a wonderful time.
4 of our party also tried out the Segways. This was a surprise for the birthday girl and the staff were great at going along with our surprise. Plenty of tuition was given and then off they went for a ride round the park. A wonderful experience.
We ate in Hucks American Diner for the 18th celebration and both our waiter Simon and the manager Tony were fantastic, decorating the table and allowing me to take a surprise birthday cake during the day which they brought in with staff singing Happy Birthday. The next evening we visited Cafe Rouge for our 30th Anniversary Celebration and our waitress was fantastic, presenting my husband and I with complimentary glasses of champagne.
Unfortunately on the Sunday afternoon our birthday girl suffered an injury to her foot in the swimming dome but the medical centre were fantastic and provided treatment and crutches. The centre also helped by transporting her around on our last evening in the site disabled mini bus. Without this we would have been really stuck.
Yet again we have had a brilliant time at CP, having been to Elveden, Longleat and one in France before. Obviously we will not hesitate to visit again.
