We've just got back from 4 days at Sherwood Forest. We had a Woodland Lodge and paid extra to be nearer the complex so we stayed at Maple 6. Lovely lodge with all mod cons, more than we expected but not much storage especially with our little 2 year old and all his bits and bobs!
I've been to Center Parcs before so knew how expensive it can be, so brought a box full of food and loo roll etc! For some reason you only get one loo roll per stay although you do get clean towels each time you get your room cleaned. You also get a little complimentary kit of tea towel, dishcloth, dishwasher tablets, tea, coffee and sugar which was nice.
Only free things at Center Parcs are the indoor pool area, kids play areas and indoor soft play areas which our little boy loved. Think you would end up spending a fortune if your kids were older and wanted to do all the activities because there are lots!
Supermarket on site is quite expensive but has some reasonably priced things. Take your own disposal bbqs as think they were £6.99 each or 2 for £10.00! You can buy them from the Poundshops!
Indoor pool area really good and loads of slides etc for all ages. Think opening at 10am is a bit late especially when you have kids that wake about 6am every morning! Kids get free use of life jackets so don't need to take your own. Water wasn't that warm when we were there though so ended up getting out early one day as we were cold.
Restaurants expensive for what you get. We only ate in Hucks, Sports Bar and Dexters. Dexters was the cheapest and best. Some have special offers on like 2-4-1 so look out for those to save you some money.
Take your own bikes as the price to hire is extortionate and the amount of free available bikes they have is a joke.
I went in the spa for 3 hours which think cost £35. Nice to have a chill out and it's very nice in there. About 15 different saunas/steam rooms etc to try.
Lovely to see all the wildlife around your lodge and you can feed them. We ended up having some baby geese in our lounge when we were feeding them bread!
All in all a good break, but would be even better if Center Parcs reduced their prices :-)
