Center Parcs Sherwood Forest
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed May 17, 2013

We visited Centre Parcs Sherwood Forest for the first time this year in May 2013. We stayed in a new style 3 bedroomed lodge with my parents, brother, his girlfriend and my husband and 9 month old baby. It was perfect, lodge was very clean had all the mod cons you needed, microwave, dishwasher etc.. beds really comfy and included in lodge was a high chair and cot. We stayed in the Birch ( Lodge 414) area very quiet and private not overlooked. Only 10 mins walk to the village square great location.
So many things to do all day and evening, you really felt as though you were on holiday. The restaurants and shops were not over priced. Most restaurants did deals on different days. All the food we had in the resturants were cooked to a very high standard and the service was quick and friendly.
Every family member enjoyed Centre Parcs that much we are definitley booking again for next year!

For my 60th birthday we took our two daughters their husbands and our three Grandsons to Sherwood Forest site.
Our 4 bedroomed villa was superb. Cleaned by very friendly staff and superbly equipped. Full kitchen, every room en-suite even a games room with a pool table which our 6 year old loved.
AS previous reviewrs have said food and drinks are not cheap however when you balance this against what the kids (and adults!) can do for free (superb pool, play areas etc.) it probably evens itself out.
Not cheap but if you have a decent sized party, 9 in our case, the price per head looks OK.
Some may be thinking it is a rural Butlins but not so, everywhere was very clean with no litter and most people seemed to respect the rules. For anyone thinking was there a 'Chav' element? inevitably but to be fair the vast majority of people respected the facilities and their fellow guests.
Overall great fun and for us a fantastic family get together.

Room Tip: Can only speak for the Cedar 4 bedroomed villa we had (652) absolutely superb!

Had a fantastic weekend with my family, great lodge and the kids certainly loved it.

It's just a shame that Centre Parcs is not the car free site it advertises as it is as there were cars parked up which were not moved all weekend. Apparently these cars get a couple of warning stickers asking them to move, but then nothing else is done. What's to say with this policy everyone else follows suit and decides to leave their car at the lodge rather than taking it back to the car park? Don't let your park be spoiled by these selfish people and either tow these cars away or ban these customers from returning.

Our team work very hard to uphold our policy to ensure that all cars are removed to the car park following unloading/loading. Therefore, I was disappointed to read your post which has been shared with the senior management team for appropriate action.

I am pleased to learn that despite this you had a fantastic weekend and I do hope you and your family will be back soon.

Thanks for posting.

We have been to Center Parcs at Whinfell Forest lots of times and have always been very impressed with the standard of the accommodation and facilities. So thinking all accommodation was standardised throughout the centreparcs locations, I was happy to recommend and book Sherwood Forest Centreparcs for an extended family weekend away.

I was mortified when I was the 'villa comfort' accommodation. It was ugly from the outside, painted bricks with some old fashioned timber cladding. Inside was even worse, it was tiny. 3 bedrooms, one of which literally had space for bunk beds and a small bookcase, a kitchen with no work top space to prepare food in. Only space for one person in the kitchen and even less floor space once the oven door was opened. A shower over a bath, that only a child could use. The villa was in dire need of a good deep clean, total refurbishment and modernisation, with its painted wood chipped wall paper.

The site itself, is good, not as forestry as Whinfell but the facilities are on a par with whinfell. The staff are friendly and there are some excellent play areas (both inside & out) for the children.

We only eat out once, at the pancake house. None of us enjoyed the food as the pancakes were served as omelets and we were expecting crepe style pancakes.

Don't get me wrong, we had a wonderful time but I would only recommend this centreparcs if you were willing to pay a lot more money, for a much better style of accommodation. I would however, thoroughly recommend Whinfell Comfort woodland lodges.

Room Tip: Don't book Villa Comfort

I certainly regret to learn that your accommodation at Sherwood Forest did not meet your expectations especially when compared to your stays at Whinfell Forest. A lack of cleanliness is certainly not acceptable and do hope that you brought your experience to the attention of our team at the time. We also have an active refurbishment programme but aim to maintain all accommodation to a satisfactory standard.

Thanks for taking the time to post.

We decided to go to the Sherwood forest center parc. I hadn't attended one before but was really pleased with the standard of accommodation and facilities. We opted for a couple of the events ie laser clay shooting and archery and these were good and felt they were not bad value.

We also hired some bikes and actually went out of the site to try some of the biking trails approx. 1mile away from the site. These were good and not too hard courses, so would recommend them a try. Also there is a go ape nearby if anyone wants to try something different whilst staying.

We all enjoyed the weekend and would definitely attend again.

Great weekend break with my two daughters, bit of pampering, bit of exercise and lots of good fun and eating. Apartment was clean and tidy and cosy. Had dinner at Strada - food was very tasty and there was loads of it - we are vegetarian and the choice was excellent. You must try the pottery painting - so theraputic and pleasantly surprised with the end result and Im no budding artist.
