“Tasty Saturday lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 27, 2013

We dropped in here for lunch with our daughter whilst visiting her at uni in Nottingham. It looked very pretty from the outside and the interior was very cosy with unusual decor. We hadn't booked but got a table straight away. Some prices on the menu seemed a little high at first glance, but there was also the choice of pub food at reasonable prices which you would pay in most pubs or restaurants, for food not half as good.
We opted for steak and ale pie and chips, which was absolutely delicious. It tasted home made and came with a little jug of gravy (which is always welcome). The chips were chunky and also appeared hand-cut and were equally delicious, the veg were fresh and had just the right crispiness. My husband had fish and chips which he also found excellent. Portions were very generous. We couldn't fault the service or the meal and were very pleased that we had chosen this restaurant quite by chance.

“Quality and Quantity on the same plate.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 16, 2013

My wife had been to The Rose Cottage with the "Girls" and rated it highly so on en route from boston we dropped in at about 6.00, it was a bit quite so had an opportunity to have a look round to see the seating ares in side and out it has plenty to offer.
our order was taken promptly at this point we noted that the prices were top end for it's location but a nice selection of well described dishes. Our food arrived what at the time we thought a bit quick however once we saw and tasted the food we were delighted.
I had the pan fried Sea Bass and how often does that dish disappoint with small amounts of fish--not this one it had two large very well cooked fillets with a excellent sauce plus at least 4 large prawns accompanied with nice veg. My wife had the Veggie Burger that look most appealing and wasn't quiet fished due to the size.
So to conclude the prices are very fair as only the biggest of eaters would need a starter .
Staff we polite and well informed --well done management !!!

“Really good value for money”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

We ate here recently after visiting the country park for a Sunday lunch over Easter. We had booked and although there was plenty of space most tables seemed to have been reserved.
The food was excellent, portion size very big (even the fish dish was a big portion), everything was very hot and the roast had every accompaniment that you could want! Best Sunday lunch I have eaten out for a while.
Not a large selection on the wine list and then the wine we did order was evidently not available so the waiter had taken it upon himself to bring an uncorked alternative which we found a bit strange as he hadn't even checked with us.
Decor in this place we found quite unusual it certainly has its own take on what it thinks is classy.
There are so any different areas which all seem to be decorated in their own unique way, from use of some nice materials and wall papers to awful mirrors lit with bulbs and glass topped tables. It didn't really have an identity, to pull it all together.
Having said all that, the atmosphere was friendly, staff happy, food excellent and reasonably priced, and we would go again if ever re-visiting the area.

“always lovely”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2013

We go here quite often and can honestly say we have never had a bad meal. The only slight issue would be it gets busy which is good but maybe an extra 1or2 staff for those times would make it a even better experience as sometimes there is a wait to be served and the staff seem rushed off their feet but always do their best not to show it .
otherwise there is nothing bad to say , beautiful surroundings in the building itself and roundabout for a pre or post walk and great variety of menu
