We found this place by chance, having missed the ferry and deciding to look for somewhere for a quick lunch in Sand.
Fargeriet looked very promising from the outside, in a charming old building in the centre. The inside did not disappoint either, with the original wooden walls and simple, wooden furniture. The service was friendly and quick.
Although not extensive, the menu was varied and the staff were pleased to tell us that everything is made from scratch on the premises. We ordered cauliflower soup and chicken soup. These were excellent and were served with freshly baked bread. the chicken soup was actually a Thai chicken soup, and was especially good. A well kept secret!
We decided to let the next ferry go and stayed for the home made apple cake and coffee. Well worth it! The apple cake had a nice twist, with a hint of lemon in the mix, and was served with generous portions of vanilla ice cream.
Having an eight month old baby with us, it was a joy to see that there were a couple of clean, nice, high chairs available. The toilet was spotless and had a changing table with a padded mat. Just as well a for us as we needed to use it.
The cafe seemed to be popular with the locals and there was a nice atmosphere there, with one of the locals helping us with the times of the next ferries. Overall we wouldn't hesitate to recommend Fargeriet if you are in the neighbourhood. We'd also recommend buying a jar of the local honey they sell. It's delicious! :-)
