Sheer luxury. Cannot be praised highly enough. Some may find the quirkiness of the rooms (open air shower! etc) a bit strange, we loved it. Food superb. An absolute must if you go to Plettenberg.

We stayed in the Baroness Game Lodge for two nights (two adults, two kids)
The place is exactly what you would want from a 'colonial' game lodge. Wonderful period feel. We did the Safari which should have taken 2 hours but in fact took 3. The ranger took a while to find the Rhino, and a lioness blocked our exit from the Lion pen. The kids absolutely loved it.
After the second night we didnt want to leave. But as its such an easy short drive to Plettenberg Bay went consoled ourselves with a day on the beach (and you cant get that in the Kruger)

Away from the cosmopolitan Cape Town and its spawling towns a truely African experience at it's best!

With its roaring fires of the homely lodge, helplessly romantic rooms, outstanding service and of course a mixture of the cuddly yet formiddable wild animals which can be seen and heard both day and night there is no reason not to stay here!

The path leading up to the lodge is fairly off road so save your tyres by taking it slow...although no need to worry about the dirt your vehicle will accumulate as it will be sparkling like new come the morning...at a no added charge these little extras just add that little something else to your stay.

The experience as a whole is a must if you want to experience 'True Africa'

We stayed for 2 nights in the Baroness lodge and it was simply perfect in every way - so good in fact that I proposed to my girlfriend here in what turned out to be a truly beautiful and romantic setting.

Firstly the staff were exceptional and very very friendly. From the moment we arrived until we left they were very welcoming and polite. We were fortunate to get to know the owners as well who are really lovely people.

The food was fantastic with fully cooked breakfast and dinner included every night. The quality of the food is exceptional and the service is great. The night I proposed to my girlfriend the owners had set up a room just for the two of us with a log fire, candles, flowers, champagne everything. They went out of their way to do this for us and for that I will always be greatfull. When we returned to our room they had placed more flowers and candles in our room which just capped off a magical evening.

The game drive was great as well and the guides are clearly very educated and funny. Both groups were a lot of fun and despite the weather being a bit dodgy on one day the game drives were still really great.

This game lodge is one of those places that you'll never forget. From the moment we arrived to we left it was magical. Simply brilliant!!! Thank you so much.

We loved our stay at the Baroness Game Lodge and we are sure this part of our visit to South Africa will remain a highlight for us for a very long time.

The staff at the lodge were incredibly welcoming and friendly and made the whole stay very memorable. We were the only guests at the lodge for the night we stayed there and we were offered the opportunity to choose any of the spectacular rooms they had available (despite already assigning us one in anticipation of our arrival) and went out of their way to make our stay special by offering to set up dinner (which we had pre-ordered with our booking) in our rooms, along with lighting up a wood fire for us.

The 2 hour game drive the next day topped off our stay and was well worth it - beautiful country, fantastic animals and a knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide.

Highly recommend a stay at this lodge to anybody - a real delight.
