This hotel is located a 40 minute tuk-tuk ride outside Kandy. The local area is perfect for a variety of short walks to explore paddy fields and tea plantations and to discover some lovely views east along the valley towards Kandy. There are some charming hotel dogs who will keep you company and stop you getting lost. Our eco-lodge was clean and peaceful, with a lovely jungle outlook.
We were on our own for most of our 3 days and though the food was good and the staff charming, it felt as though they were at full stretch providing a very Sri Lankan level of service for only two adults and one six year old. It would have been worth it but for the owner rather aggressively insisting on charging the adult meal rate for a six year old who ate virtually nothing! On top of that they initially quoted us $25 for a birthday cake that ended up costing $6.
The reality of the hotel swimming pool is very different to the hotel’s rather deceptive website, which exaggerates the size of the current pool and does not mention the building site where there will (eventually) be a bigger pool.
