“Great relaxing Stay”
Reviewed August 7, 2017 for a stay in July 2017

Booked this cottage for an open to family holiday and it was perfect. If you are after a quiet and relaxing place to stay and a great base for exploring the lake district then this ideal. The Cottage is spacious and well kept with plenty of room to relax in and they except pets win/win. Outside is a small garden and just over the drive is a waterfall that you can hear. There are a few good walks in the area and a great little post office where you can get a few bits and order papers.

“A Perfect Family Getaway”
Reviewed July 30, 2017 for a stay in July 2017

We had a wonderful stay at Oakbank Cottage. It was very welcoming, nicely decorated, fully equipped, and more than big enough for our party of 7 plus a dog.
Set in an excellent location tucked away from the road with the sound of a gushing stream on your doorstep, you couldn't ask for more.
It was tranquil and comfortable, a great place to stay and explore the village and take in the stunning views. We also managed plenty of trips out to Ambleside, Ullswater, and even a climb up Scafell Pike. The dog adored it and had a fun ride on the little steam train with us counting sheep, I have never seen her smile so much :-)
The local pubs were all very nice with good menus and feeding us hearty meals.
Booking was very easy. Candy was quick to respond and answered all my queries.
All round great trip and I would definitely recommend a stay at Oakbank Cottage.
Big thanks to Candy.

Stayed here three nights with a party of 9. Oldest 78, youngest 6.
The cottage is in a stunning location and is within a hour of most things you want to do in the Lakes!
The cottage slept us all comfortably and the owner is easy to contact and responds quickly!
We cooked dinner there all the three days and the kitchen is well equipped.
The cottage has a well stocked games cabinet, which we used while sat by the beautiful log cabin!
If you're coming in late, make sure you bring your groceries with you, at least for your first night there! During the day, you could buy stuff while you're out and about!
We had a delightful stay!!

Hi Supreeta - we're thrilled you had such a great stay at Oakbank Cottage! Thank you so much for your lovely comments. Just so you know for the future, in terms of groceries Tesco do deliver to the cottage and a lot of our guests organise a delivery online before they come, so that's a good option. Also, if you're early enough the little Post Office and Stores has all the basics and is a two minute drive or 10 minute walk from the cottage. Once again we're delighted that your family party at Oakbank was such a success, and hope to see you again before too long!

“Lovely house in a beautiful location.”
Reviewed April 3, 2017 for a stay in March 2017

We were a group of seven friends (with dogs) and booked for a short break. The cottage is in a quiet location with a river and waterfall nearby. It is a good size and didn't feel cramped at all with a large lounge and dining kitchen. Plenty of walks on the doorstep and we enjoyed a trip to Wast Water and Coniston which were both about 30-40 mins drive away. I recommend this property to anyone wanting a quiet, relaxing break away from the hustle and bustle of city life in beautiful surroundings.

Thank you so much for your lovely review Eulalia - we're delighted that you and your friends had a great stay at Oakbank Cottage. And so pleased you went to Wastwater! It's our nearest large lake (there's actually a tarn called Devoke Water less than 10 minutes drive too) and just about our favourite place in the Lakes.

“Perfect rural retreat”
Reviewed April 17, 2016 for a stay in April 2016

Four adults and four children in our party, and all had a great time. Quiet location with superb walks that had excellent pubs at the end of them. (Blacksmiths Arms at Broughton Mills particularly).
Well furnished house, great sized kitchen and plenty of room in the house not to always be on top of each other.
Loads of books and games for wet days, though we were lucky not to need them.

“lovely house, plenty of space, very peaceful area”
Reviewed August 7, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

My brothers family and mine had a wonderful time at Oak Bank, lots of great walks, brilliant base to get around the lakes - once you get used to the hills! Our kids really got into walking which makes a change from the constant screens! Tesco and Asda both delivered to us too so we didn't need to worry about shopping. the children particularly enjoyed the stream as you come into Ulpha and the crossing cows! Ravenglass trains were a big favorite too.
