“Great location and restauramt, but average exhibitions”
Review of Artipelag

Attraction details
Recommended length of visit: 2-3 hours
Owner description: Artipelag is an international venue for art, good food, events and activities – beautifully set on Varmdo in the Stockholm Archipelago, just 20 minutes from the city centre. The name Artipelag is a combination of Art, Activities, and Archipelago. It says a lot about what we can offer, but it does not tell it all. Our intention has been to create a destination of high international quality – with boundary-crossing art exhibits, inspiring activities, and good food. Getting here is easy; whether by bus, car or boat. There are 350 parking spaces, a pier for passenger boats from Stockholm City, a long guest marina for visiting private boats and public bus service daily.
Useful Information: Stroller parking, Stairs / elevator, Activities for young children, Food available for purchase, Activities for older children, Wheelchair access, Bathroom facilities, Lockers / storage

“Great location and restauramt, but average exhibitions”
Reviewed May 8, 2013

This is a place that you visit for its beautiful location by the water - try to arrive by boat if possible, not for the art exhibitions that are average at best. The architecture of the building is stunning and is nicely integrated into the surrounding forest and water. The restaurant is excellent and well worth visiting without even attending the museum itself.

“Beautiful sight but not so beautiful art gallery”
Reviewed March 24, 2013 via mobile

The view is beautiful but the art gallery is not worth the money, 200 kr for a very small exhibition.

“Artipelag restaurant Baggen knows their stuff!”
Reviewed November 15, 2012

The chef Fredrik Björlin was one in the team that won GOLD in the OS gastronomy contest the other month. We got to try the meny one evening in November, with open fire in the restaurant, fire outside in the dark surroundings and we were really impressed by the food! The dessert alone had 15 different parts in a symphony of raspberries! It was worth the trip and I hopepeople will visit even in winter - but it´ll be absolutely irresistible in the summer!

“The most gorgeous place”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

What an astonishing place. I don't know if I would call it a museum, an artexhibition or just a beautiful venue.
From the beautiful setting when you arrive by boat and walk up the winding bridges from the harbour with a gorgeous view of Baggensfjärden, and up to Artipelag and see the house which blends in with nature, it's an experience.
Artipelag itself consist of one huge hall with 19 meters ceilingheight where you can make advance TV-recordings or have exhibitions. Then you have the huge exhibitionhall where there are very interesting exhibitions. This summer for instance it was an exhibition called the place of the soul. In total the house is over 10.000 sqm.

There are also two restaurants, one buffetstyle where you also can take a break with coffe and some good bun, and also the à la carte restaurant with delicious food and wonderful views.

One place I loved was the toilets! Yes you read it right. They are situated on the bottom level and there are plenty of them and the men and women are not separated as it's usually done. The lighting is soft and the basins are just gorgeous. See photo.
There are also several toilets which have places where you can change dipers on your baby.

The man who made this vision come true is the man who invented Baby Björn so everything is also made with children in mind. You have a stroller parking outside and when you get in you can borrow a Baby Björn to carry your baby. All the railings are in two levels, one for adults and one for children.

If you are tourist in Stockholm you simply have to go out here and if you do take the boat from Stockholm city. You can also take Artipelag's own bus.
