We stayed here for one night only in the end of August 2011. We booked through their website and got a package deal with one night stay, picnic basket at arrival, 3 course meal and breakfast included. The picnic basket was a bit uninspiring, but it didn't really matter so much. Our room was on ground, or shall I say sea level, which meant we could have jumped into the water straight from our door, however at the end of August and rain hanging in the air, we weren't so tempted. The rooms are all tastefully decorated, decent size considering you're floating on water, nice clean and fresh bathroom and the bed was super comfy. We had a lovely view over the water and there was even a desk by the window and free wifi. We walked around the island for a few hours, took our picnic with us and just pootled around, the island is simply stunning, filled with nooks and crannys, narrow little paths between the houses and it's utterly photogenic. It was very quiet and peaceful everywhere as it was the end of the season, but if you come here in June, July it will be buzzing of locals as a lot of the houses are only holiday homes. We had our 3 course meal in the evening and it was exquisite, one of the best meals we've ever had. The food they use is local and fresh produce and changes depend on the seasons catch of fish, they do serve meat as well. We had to pay extra for alcohol, but this is Sweden and alcohol is always going to be expensive there, so this was expected, but the wine they suggested was superb. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. We had heard from friends that its the season for 'sea sparkle' and asked the staff if this was true. The girl serving us told us about it, she even went outside to 'test' and came back and told we should be able to see it and where to look for it. We went for a night time wander and in a dark bay we found it, it was really amazing to see. So if you stay here towards the end of August, don't miss out on the sea sparkle! The breakfast is, as expected with Swedish hotels, full of good choices and you feel full and satisfied after.
The only downside about this place is that the floating sauna boat is not available for 'normal guests' but only available through private hire. It would really add to the experience if you could have a sauna in the evening and go for a dip in the sea, at least when it's not booked for private affairs.
