“Go out of your way...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 6, 2012

I had stayed at Lerags last year and wanted to bring my husband back, so when I made reservations for this spring, I was a bit dismayed when I heard the previous owners were no longer there. Not to worry! The house itself is still cosy and comfortable and in a beautiful setting. Nicola's attentiveness is warm and helpful. The kitchen of course was the big concern. Could the new owners produce the same quality of food? The answer I'm pleased to say is a resounding yes. They were also extremely accommodating to food sensitivities which did not seem to inhibit Richard's creativity in the least. No doubt we will return. And if you happen to be in Oban around lunch time, try Coast, owned by the same couple and more proof of their talents both in the kitchen and in the dining room.

Room Tip: Room 7 is a lovely suite overlooking the garden.

We returned to Lerags House, set in a beautiful area, this month because of an enjoyable visit last year. The new hardworking owners Nicola and Richard have made it even more special. Richard is a very talented chef. He includes an amazing mix of tastes within his courses. His pork fillet dish was outstanding.Dinner each evening was one of the many highlights.Nicola is an equal partner in this winning team. She provides a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and nothing is too much trouble. It doesn't matter if the weather isn't perfect, there is much to see and do and you can always return early to a log fire in the comfortable lounge and relax with a book.We had a very happy stay and want to return with friends to show them what they are missing! Verna and John Aspinall

Room Tip: Our room had a double aspect with a lovely view through the garden to the creek

The house itself is absolutely stunning- lovely big rooms tastefully decorated and a huge garden with with great scenery! Including a lovely sea loch at the bottom of the garden- so peaceful! Nicola and Richard are one of the loveliest couples I've met- friendly, helpful and their hospitality is second to none! I recommend trying the great food Richard has to offer- excellent chef. Finch, the border terrier is also a great little character! Highly recommend Lerags House. Looking forward to staying again!

We were the first visitors of this year, staying in the suite, for two nights in this so comfortable room, fantastic view out of the windows that overlook the grounds down to the sea loch. We were made so welcome by Nicola when we arrived at this glorious old house. We ate the the most delicious
food for our dinner on both evenings, from the canapes pre dinner through to the chocolates and coffee in the sitting room in front of the blazing fire, and then started the day with an amazing choice of food to break our fast. Richard you are a talented and creative chef in your kitchen. Nicola and Richard made us feel like old friends , and where our every wish was catered for. We shall certainly be back and make friends with Finch the Border Terrier.

We had the place to ourselves so were thoroughly spoilt by the owners who were a delight. Our room was called the suite and overlooked the garden and the start of the loch. It's style was airy, contemporary and very tasteful, as was the rest of Lerags. Dinner in the dining room was fantastic and original. The big stone house has a very relaxing atmosphere and I really do recommend it and would love to stay again.
