“top notch service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2011

In my view, service is everything and Lerags did not disappoint. Bella & Charlie offer top notch service coupled with excellent accommodation and the best cooked breakfast I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. Set in a quiet location at the head of a sea loch, Lerags provides everything a holiday maker could desire.

We will certainly be back

After a gap of three years we were welcomed back for our third stay like long lost friends. Lerags is so good because Charlie and Bella obviously want to make you feel welcome. Good rooms and outstanding food. As a vegetarian, I am delighted to get such nice meals without feeling in any way a burden.

We stayed for 2 nights during touring holiday. Charlie made us feel most welcome and at home straight-away. he provided us with useful local info and a good wine list. We didn't meet Bella for some time as she was busy in the kitchen. Room was spacious and well-maintained. The only negatives were the lack of shower (bath attachment only) and the lack of double-glazing (which was only required to battle against the hurricane force storm on our second day!). The same storm caused a power-cut (very rare I'm told). However that only brought out the best in Bella's cuisine. The food would have been exceptional at the best of times. Despite our assurances that sandwiches would be quite acceptable in the circumstances Bella insisted in producing some of the best food from our trip with the aid of a gab hob, barbecue and head torch. Please don't let the negatives be a reason not to go, just some constructive criticism.

This was our second visit in the last two years, and just as good as we’d remembered.
Charlie & Bella were excellent hosts, nothing was too much trouble for them.
Belle’s cooking was once again super and both the breakfasts and evening meals most enjoyable. Lerags itself is an old house full of character and in a great quiet location.
You can sit outside and enjoy a drink in the evening sun and watch the garden birds.
We look forward to visiting again in the future.

We spent three fabulous nights at Lerags House, which we used as a base to explore the Oban area. Located a little south of the town and slightly off the beaten track in a lovely country setting, the Georgian house and grounds are beautiful and peaceful. The rooms are stylishly decorated in an elegant, under-stated way and are very comfortable. Charlie and Bella are natural hosts and were born to run a high-quality establishment such as this. They take great pride in everything they do and they seem to cope almost effortlessly with a houseful of guests. The atmosphere is relaxed and Bella's food at both breakfast and dinner is delicious and thoughtfully prepared. Lerags House is very special and we recommend it highly.

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent short stay in Lerags. Charlie and Bella have a beautiful home and a really clear idea about how to make their guests feel welcome and pampered. It's a lovely quiet location with a great walk down a private country lane to the shore. Our room was beautifully decorated in understated calm modern style with really good quality linen and a very comfy bed. Food was really really good - both breakfast and dinner. Oh, and their dogs are great! I would detour back to Oban again in order to return.

We stayed for 2 nights and could hardly fault the place. For us, in any hotel or B&B the hosts are the key factor for ensuring an enjoyable stay. At Lerags House we were off to a flying start - Charlie and Bella are naturals: friendly, relaxed, helpful, great sense of humour, hard working. Our room (no.1) was delightful - large enough and very light with twin aspects, with proper sash windows. Bathroom was OK, but probably could do with a refurb - hand held shower over bath is awkward and the window didn't open. Extremely comfortable bed and quality linen.
Bella's cooking is excellent; no choice - which I find a treat not having to choose and knowing that the chef has put her all into that one menu.
Breakfasts provide that rare occasion - a relief from the traditional British cooked fare.... waffles, maple syrup and bacon were hugely enjoyed by us.
All in all we had the most relaxing time of our holiday here - sitting outside on the lawn with a drink, chatting to fellow guests in the sitting room and walking around the island of Kerrera on Bella's recommendation.
We will return.
