“The perfect stay”
Reviewed August 2, 2014

I tried and tried but there is seriously not one bad thing i can say about this hotel. Our stay there was magical from A to Z.

They came to pick us up from the port (although it's a very short walk to the hotel).
As they showed us to our room, they told us some rooms don't pick up the internet connection (the premisses of the hotel are quite big and it's quite spread out). I noticed straight away that i couldn't pick up a connection and 20min later, they had brought an extra modem to our room so we could connect!

The room's design is very modern and stylish. The hotel is VERY well kept. I was surprised to hear they've been open for 8 years: it looks brand new!
There is a little kitchen in the room in case you want to cook something. Each room has a little balcony. We had two huge Fat Boy type of bean bags to seat on, it was really cool.

I LOVED the amenities! The shower gel/body cream/conditioner are Cologne from Thierry Mugler all over the hotel (also in the shared bathrooms) and smells soooo good! They even ofered us some more when they came to refresh the room.

There is a tiny shop in front of the reception that sells very stylish clothes from niche brands (Muzungu Sisters and the likes, was so surprised!).

We didn't try the swimming pool but it is filled with sea water - which we found quite cool.

The biggest highlight for us was the breakfast though. We were looking forward to it every day!
Loved the cuttlery. The plates were shaped like paper plates you'd take camping but was all ceramic. The food came out so fast. You barely had time to sit that the'y bring out freshly toasted bread with homemade jam and two types of honey. EVERYTHING on the menu is home made. The banana bread is to die for! The pancakes (not the typical american style) and delicious! Loved everything. In fact i found the banana bread so good i asked for the recipe and they wrote it down for me. I couldn't finish my two slices one day (had so many things on the menu) and the waiter packed it for me (he knew i found them delicious) and even gave me an extra slice.

Come to think of it i *can* think of a negative thing about our stay: it definitively was too short!

Thanks again for the amazing stay and service Anemi team, you guys rock! We'll definitely be back!

We were looking for a place in the Cyclades which is not yet spoiled by tourists, cruise ships and by noise....and we found this @ Folegandros. We have travelled and lived in every continent but hotel Anemi is top of our billboard. With view over the little harbor, the hotel is " Zen ". Lounge music, large swimming pool, excellent food and minimalistic rooms in local style. The beautiful village of Chora and the beaches are one minute by boat or by Vespa. Fresh fish on the pool with lounge music and a book or a scrabble : what else do you need ? Or a chat with the very friendly staff discussing soccer at the pool bar over an espresso macchiato ? Or hopping on a boat to Milos, Ios or Santorini ? We will be back next year ! By the way, although a quiet island, we stayed 11 days.....

Room Tip: Take a room with a terrace with seaview so you sip your drink on the couch.

The Anemi is half a mile from the port, and near to several beaches, one of which (Latinaki) is a 400'yard walk and perfect for us... full shade under rocks for me... full sun for my partner... good snorkelling too. So after a wonderful breakfast.. a morning on the beach... an iced coffee in the town... a late lunch back at the Anemi.. great food served by friendly well trained staff in beautiful flowing grecian dresses ... a lazy afternoon swimming in our private pool, reading and watching the ferries and boats come and go to the port. Cool rooms both in design and comfort. Then a trip to Chora to eat at Evas Garden... the best restaurant in town. Chora small and pleasant and good fun with many other restaurants bars shops and tourists. Perfect holiday.

Cheap enough to hire a car for a few days.. the hotel can arrange... 40 euro a day.

Niggles... the muzak in the bar restaurant was irritating... and you pay 2.5 euros for each nespresso capsule used in your room which is a bit mean. Given the room rates coffee should be free!

Hotel rooms, grounds and main pool are all immaculately kept.

Note if arriving at Santorini airport the transfer to the ferry port is if you are lucky a 25 euro taxi ride for a 10 minute journey... you might have better luck than we did in finding a bus to the port. The port at Santorini is chaotic with little or no information to help you find where your ferry leaves from... after a hot wait our seajet appeared along with a couple of hundred other travellers all pushing for a place. Reserved seats did seem to be honoured. If returning to Santorini airport get the anemi to book a transfer from Santorini port to the airport in advance... our return journey was even more chaotic with no taxis or buses to the airport visible. The locals will happily fleece you for the short trip by private car. All good holiday fun!

Room Tip: Rooms with a private pool are just perfect. Pricy, but well worth the extra.

everything was perfect, with facilities that you cannot imagine you ll find in a small island, like Folegandros. Far the best hotel on the island with an amazing pool and one of the richest breakfasts you can ever find in a hotel!!!

I stayed at the anemi at the end of june for three nights. I first stayed at the anemomilos in the chora, I'm sorry i moved.
The anemi is a lovely property and the food is excellent. The staff was also professional and very very nice.
I thought the location was awful. It is near the port and there is really nothing there, everything to do is up in the chora. The position of the hotel catches all the heat and is very hot, there is also no natural shade by the pool. The environment is like an oven. There is only one taxi on the island and the only other option is bus, unless you have a car.
The hotel and rooms are modern and attractive, but feels like a hotel anywhere without the charm that goes along with a family run hotel which is really the charm of being on such a small island.
The whole point of staying in folegandros is having the spectacular view that you can only get up in the chora. I do not recommend this property mainly for the location.

Folegandros was a treat to visit - we can't recommend it enough! I can't imagine there is a higher quality hotel on the island, but be aware that the location is on the port and not in Chora. You'll need to hire the island's taxi, walk the 3.5km, or hire a quad bike or car. We would highly recommend going into town for meals, as the hotel is high priced for the island (or for Europe in general - €6 for a beer!) The rooms are clean and well designed, the included breakfast is phenomenal, and the staff are quick to serve.

We stayed in Anemi hotel for ten days in July. Although its location is typical in Cyclades, Anemi hotel is an outstanding landmark. The colour of the well attended gardens is in sharp contrast with the rocky sight. The architecture is minimal but also very luxurious.
All the people working in the hotel were kind, charming and eager to satisfy all our needs and at the same time they were very discreet.
The food was delicious, properly served and without any delays. The fresh juices and cocktails served at the pool bar were an exquisite experience. In addition, the soft music and the view of the full moon while drinking wine by the pool made us feel like having a second honeymoon.
The room was spacious, beautifully furnished with a comfortable king size bed. It was always clean and the quality of the bathroom amenities was unique.
Last but not least Anemi is one of the best hotels we've ever stayed in while traveling in Europe. We would highly recommended it for a stylish as well as relaxing holidays.
