“Hotel great, Battaglin Bicycling Tour, not so great”
Reviewed June 3, 2014

This is such a great place, and I lucked out with room 14 - terrace with amazing views. Bruno is the best host ever. He makes sure everyone is both comfortable and happy. This is clearly a family-run venture, and they take great pride in making this a very special visit. I was here on a 2-city Battaglin Travel LivingSocial coupon. The hotel and hotel staff are fabulous, as was our cycling guide Marco.

However, I can't say the same at all for the Battaglin Travel side of things. One guide for 8 people, with a wide range of cycling skills? Not at all as advertised/promised.

Desenzano Del Garda is a real highlight, with something for everyone - and without compromise to its character/heritage. I would return to this property - without Battaglin's "help" - in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: If you can get Room 14 (it requires getting up a spiral staircase), I'd highly recommend it!

A great family run hotel in an ideal location from which to explore Lake Garda or Desenzano.
The hotel is a 15 minute walk from the Train Station, with plenty of Taxis
A short stroll takes you to the boats which travel around the lake
Fantastic and unusual rooms in the hotel and 3 very good restaurants
Very helpful and friendly owner Bruno
If you are considering Lake Garda then this is the place to stay

The Alessi was an inspired choice for an overnight stay in lovely Desenzano - right in the heart of the old town, with cobbled streets and surrounded by delightful olde-worlde style shops, bars and restaurants. The hotel is a maze of corridors, stairs and terraces, which gives it a real charm and there is a choice of 3 restaurants - so you don't even have to leave the hotel - but it would be a shame to miss such a lovely town! Rooms were clean and tidy with modern decor, and breakfast was a typical affair with bread and cakes, cheeses, cold meats and plenty of freshly brewed Italian coffee. Service was variable; we were greeted by a chef on check-in, had a fright when it looked like our passports had been lost on check-out, but our waiter in the trattoria was a gilt-edged syperstar! Overall, the Alessi gave us a good start to our tour of the Italian Lakes and is well worth a try for anyone visiting the area for the first time.

Perfect place to stay. Our 7 days here were magnificent. The location in the city center and near the lake on a narrow old street was so romantic! Good room and breakfast, very helpful staff. Special thanks to Bruno for his hospitality.

The greeting was excellent, the staff were very pleasant, the food was excellent ( the menu of the day is very good value in the trattoria) did I mention there are 3 restaurants ? a Pizza restaurant , a trattoria(excellent) and a more formal one in the courtyard. there is also a bar and across the alley a wine shop. location is perfect as a base for hopping around the lake during the day and for bar gopping in Descanzano in the evening.

Room Tip: we were in a great room on the third floor, 4 poster bed and an ENORMOUS bath in the room.

Stayed in Hotel Alessi for six days as part of a group trip and were given a warm welcome. The hotel rambles around two courtyards: one is a restaurant and the other the kitchen courtyard, so it can be a bit confusing to find your room initially. We had an excellent second floor double room, clean and comfortable, with good air conditioning. There was some noise from the courtyard restaurant, but with the shutters and windows closed for the air conditioning it was not enough to trouble us. The group was there on a dinner, bed and breakfast deal, which was good value for money. On different occasions we ate in three of the hotel's different restaurants. The food was good and the drinks not too expensive.
We would be happy to go and stay there again. Desenzano is lovely and a good centre for exploring Lake Garda and beyond.

Room Tip: There is a lift, but it can be some way from some of the rooms. Because the hotel rambles through s...
