We've used the Garda ferry service on a couple of holidays now and we do enjoy it. Ferries run pretty much to schedule but are pricey. There's no rover or season ticket on offer for tourists as far as we could see which is a shame. However we noted that elderly people could secure a discount on production of appropriate ID

Be warned, if the weather is not perfect you may well get dropped somewhere you do not want to be and you WILL lose money.
We paid for a trip from Garda to Gardone and After an hour on the lake it appeared all was not well due to strong winds. We appeared to go a different direction and were eventually taken to Torri. We were advised to get a bus back to Garda where we would be given a refund for our ferry ticket as well as our bus journey for the return to Garda. We were charged 10 euros each for a journey to somewhere we did not want to go, advised 'you have to pay for your trip'. Torri is the most unattractive of places, there is nothing there! We did not want to go there and were charges for wasting 2 hours of our holiday i.e. a wasted hour on a ferry, a walk to the bus stop along with a crowded bus ride back to Garda.
Communication was awful, customer service was awful, a very bad experience all round.

I truly enjoy using the ferries here. It's a great way to get to see some of the little towns from the lake. Used it twice to visit Malchesine and it takes a while but it's a beautiful way to travel.

Only real downside is there are only a couple of ferries which have refreshments which is disappointing in the heat of the summer.

We have travelled extensively this year from Turkey through Europe via Romania, Austria, Germany, France and Italy. Our reviews are based on these experiences in terms of facilities, locations and cost etc.
We had limited time in Lake Garda and really just wanted a boat trip on the lake with something to do at the end of it! Low expectations really. We went to the ferry office and could have bought a ticket to sail around the lake but decided to visit Sirmioni, which was 25 mins trip, cost 6E return trip and then gave us time in the village. We had previously read that it was a 'tourist trap' but as it was mid-Oct, we weren't too concerned with this.
The ferry was great, we sat on the open rear boat, as the weather was fantastic. The views leaving the port and arriving at Sirmioni were very pretty. Sirmioni has lots of restaurants and tourist shops but if you walk over to the other side, where the Roman ruins are, it looks as if you are in the Med. The views are beautiful, the lake is shallow and clear and it looks strange to see swans swimming in the sea! Obviously they are not, and are swimming in freshwater, but it looks as if they are in the sea.
Excellent day trip. Would recommend. Would not return here, as it is small, and we definitely walked most of it, but would go to another location.

A great way to get about. We used this means of transport a few timesbetween Gardioni to Salo and then to Desenano as well. A great way to see Lake.Garda
Sirmioni was stunning and we spent a great day wandering around the sights.
