“spotless hotel minimalist decor”
Reviewed October 12, 2011

we stayed in this hotel the first week in september .the whole appearance of the hotel gives a feeling of calm with cool cream decor .. staff were helpful if you needed anything, otherwise they were polite but remained aloof . the staff in the breakfast room were the friendliest. its location is very convenient for all the local restaurants and shops and it is definitely walking distance from the train staiton (downhill when traveling from the station) we paid E15 for approx a 4minute car trip ! A word of warning the sunbeds are quite light made of wicker type material with a light chrome frame be very careful how you sit on them as they turn over very easily as we found out to our detriment, not to mention embarassment!! overall i would definitely reccomend this hotel good value for money with good facilities

We stayed here in August with our 2 teenage sons and had a great time. I had read the reviews first so was pretty confident the hotel would be good. It fully met our expectations. The staff were very friendly and helpful on check-in and throughout the stay. Our rooms were perfect and located beside each other. The view was over a side street but it wasn't noisy. The rooms and the hotel facilities were excellent, very clean and contemporary. The pool was quite and relaxing with mostly Italian couples. During our stay it was a public holiday with a massive firework display on the lake and Desenzano was very busy over the weekend. We arrived on Saturday and struggled to find a restaurant table until after 10pm! Over the bank holiday the hotel put out some complimentary wine and aperitifs for the guest in the evening and a special breakfast the next morning with a complementary gift of locally produced Olive Oil. It was a nice touch. The breakfast was very good and as mentioned in previous reviews the coffee is just perfect.
I would recommend hiring a speed boat during your stay, there easy to use and great when its hot as the breeze on the lake cools you down.

Room Tip: We has superior rooms which are comfortable and spacious.

Fantastic location just 10 minutes walk from the train station.
Very friendly & professional welcome by the reception staff. Room was on the ground floor overlooking the swimming pool.
I am very fussy about hygiene, i couldn't fault it, the bed sheets were, crisp & clean, the bathroom was sparkling.
It was a fare sized room TV (flat screen) only 1 english news channel.
Bar area is cool & very funky, bar nibbles including hot savoury pastry's are placed on the bar every night before dinner time, so you can enjoy a pre dinner drink on the terrace overlooking the pool. Some of the rooms overlook the Audi Garage next door but i think most of these have a side lake view.
Breakfast is served 7am to 10am, wide variety of breads, pastries, fruit, yoghurt, eggs, bacon, sausage, cereals & cheeses & cold meat. Fantastic. The lake is only 5 minutes walk away. perfect.

My mam and dad are just back from here writing their review as they don't know how to! They loved this hotel well located for the train station and 2 min walk to the centre of Desenzano. First thing they said was the hotel should be a five star the service and rooms are excellent. The usually travel to America but the hotel and lake garda has made a first class long lasting impression. The hotel food was lovely and well priced against that available in the centre plus the quality was better in the hotel. Overall stay was 6 nights and fantastic they thank the staff for their assistance and would not hesitate returning to Nazionale!

This is a beautiful hotel which has been done out to the highest standard. The pool area is lovely and the room was bright, modern and clean and came equipped with sky television. The hotel is also ideally located with just a short 2 minutes or so walk to the lake. Desenzano is also regarded as the capital of Italy and is highly recommended with many fantastic restaurants to sample - it came as a shock for me to discover this hotel is 3 star when in the past I have stayed at 4 star hotels which haven't been as nice!

We stayed here for four nights at the end of our trip to Italy, after Rome and Venice.
We were slightly worried booking a 3* hotel but we shouldn't have been - in fact we were confused as to why it was only a 3*! It was an infinitely better hotel than the 3* we stayed in in Rome, and much nicer than the 4* in Venice as well. It definitely needs upgrading I would say!
The hotel was clean and contemporary - 'Cosmopolitan' was the word used to describe it in our paper work and it was just that. We were upgraded to a superior room at no extra cost when we arrived which was fantastic. The room was huge, very well decorated and furnished and the bathroom was excellent. We also had a view over towards the lake from our balcony - albeit a little way away as the hotel is about 300/400m or so away from the lake, set back a couple of streets, but it was a lake view non the less and we were very pleased to have that.
The location was excellent - only a couple of minutes walk to the lively centre of Desenzano which is full of great bars, restaurants and boutiques. But far enough away from the bustle of the centre for it to be nice and quiet at night.
Staff were lovely and extremely helpful throughout our stay, they really went out of their way to help and provide information on the area. Breakfast was excellent and the bar/lounge area was great - very well designed with comfy, contemporary sofas and chairs. The pool area was great too, and very welcome after 6 days of city sightseeing. A good size pool, whirlpool and plenty of sun-loungers made it a great place to relax.
The little details really made this hotel - a lot of thought and effort had clearly gone into the design of everything from the decor down to the tea cups!
We loved this hotel and would unreservedly recommend it to anyone. It definitely deserves more than its 3* rating, I have stayed in much much worse 4* hotels than this. A real find!

Room Tip: Superior rooms are very large and airy and have a view over towards the lake which is really lovely.

We loved it, and I agree with other reviews - it could be a 4 star without question.
A few minutes walk to the lake / main square - slight downhill - go down the small street opposite the hotel for shortcut.

The reception / bar area / dining room and our Junior Suite were just beautiful.
Decor stunning. The wardrobes and furniture in room was finished to a very high standard. No pictures on our wall, so it looked a little bare, but it was classy all the same. Very quiet hotel.

Our junior suite overlooked the pool at the back of hotel, and our balcony got the sun into the early evening, so was very nice to sit out on patio at any time. The aircon was very welcome too! We bought prosecco and beer from the cheap supermarket a few doors down and kept it chilled in fridge in our room.

Pool area cleaned in evening and mornings by staff, so always looked immaculate.

I wouldnt say its a place for young children though - more a couples hotel I thought, and there are various nationalities that stay here.

The breakfast choices were great - various fruits, yoghurts, breads, juices, prosecco, ham/cold meat, selection of cheeses, biscuits, cereals. Didnt like the scrambled egg or sausages but thats just a taste thing, but I think anyone could find something from the buffet. there are some tables set up on patio if you prefer to eat outside, but is comfortable inside too, and patio doors are open so it feels airy and light.

Mario on Reception was very helpful and understood/spoke very good english.

Our only niggles was Check in wasnt welcoming, and the Bar area isnt manned. Checking in, which of course is your first impression - there were no smiles off the receptionist and we felt we were almost putting her out. Perhaps a cultural thing, I dont think it was personal!?!

The Bar is also not manned so we had to ask on a couple of occasions, at reception, for someone to serve us a drink! they dont seem to promote the bar area. My partner went to order 2 x drinks, & after waiting for ages to start with, the receptionist finally came to assist - he wanted a draft beer, but it must have ran out or barrel needed changed, so she just told him it was finished. She didnt offer to change barrel or even offer an alternative. Being too polite to put her to any bother (she gave impression he was inconveniencing her) so he just came back with my drink ... so advice is to ASK - its not offered to you!! However, I wanted a pint of tap water with lots of ice one afternoon and Mario was on shift and although i had to go to Reception to ask for service, he was very accomodating.

Its a beautiful hotel and we'd definitely stay again.

Desenzano town is busy on w'ends and little quieter during the week. Fantastic choices of restaurants.
We had a lovely time, and took day trip to Sirmione - a must. Also took a day trip by train to Venice - loved that too, but didnt enjoy the high prices and crowds.

Room Tip: We Paid extra for the Suite, which we didnt really need - it had separate room with fold-down bed &a...
