“Best Hotel in Desenzano”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

We have just returned from our 4th visit to the Villa Rosa Hotel, each time we had a fantastic stay. All the staff are very friendly from the reception to the house keepers. The standard is of a very high standard which is represented in the price. We spent 14 nights here and by the end of the vacation we were on first name terms with all the staff. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to visit Desenzano. The hotel is very well situated within easy reach of very good restraunts, there is a small gym which is adequate (although we did not use it as we were on vacation) for a break. We would like to thank Enrico, Katia, Monia and all at the staff at Villa Rosa for looking after us and ensuring that it felt like home.

The hotel was in the best location right on the shores of lake Garda within 10 minutes walk of the centre of Desenzano. We booked 2 standard rooms for ourselves and our two teenage boys. The balcony of these rooms does not look out onto the pool or lake but that did not matter at all as the rooms were of a good standard and we could easily spend time by the lovely pool or lake across the road! Also rooms are very clean. The breakfast table had a wide selection and a highlight of this for us all was the freshly squeezed orange juice. We did not sample dinner in the hotel but had one light lunch on the terrace which was fantastic. Service was good and friendly staff although we found staff getting drinks from the bar rather slow. We drove to Italy and were glad we had booked a space in the hotel garage as the car parks/roads nearby were busy. Basically our car only left the garage one time during our stay! We loved exploring Desenzano and would definitely go back there and stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: the standard room was the only one we sampled and it was great. Obviously for a romantic getaway a l...

I need gluten free and dairy free food. The hotel was excellent in providing me with lovely meals. I told them my needs at the beginning of the holiday and they remembered from then on. everything about the hotel was superb

I stayed at Hotel Villa Rosa last July for our honeymoon, at first when my hubby suggested Italy I was like no way (im a coeliac), but to my surprise it was one of the best countries for gluten free food. The rooms are lovely, we have a deluxe room which was quiet small but very clean, and a balcony overlooking the lake. The buffet breakfast was AMAZING, there was gluten free criossants, chocolate wafters, cereals, you name it they had it. You could even have champagne for breakfast. All the little touches added up aswell like a congratulations note in our room, champagne and strawberries. It is in a great location, very peaceful. Its a beatiful hotel, can't wait to return, its a gluten free gem. The dinner menu have everything clearly marked as GF, towards the end of our trip I was know as the "Chilliac"!!! Everyone was so friendly, and the cocktails are great!! Great stay, well worth the extra money.

Hotel ambience v. good.
Reception staff friendly & helpful at all times.
Bedrooms well sized & kept v. clean with sheets & towels changed every day. Beds large & comfortable. Air -con. v. effective.
Staff all v. pleasant. Waiters & barman good ( esp. Guiseppi) with 1 exception ( short, older waiter who gets things wrong & whose English is poor ).
Poole/lounger towels are supplied & replaced as necessary.

A major reason for choosing this hotel was the 'heated outdoor pool'- a joke: probably the room minibar was warmer!
Half board dinner menu on 7 day cycle. Dinner can take up to 21& half hours. on 1 evening we waited an hour for a course. English descriptions of the Italian menu were quaint & often confusing. If we return it will be B&B with a considerable number of excellent restaurants nearby, where you know what you are ordering, service is much quicker & the cost no more than paying the extra for half board. Guests complained that we felt second rate compared with non-resident guests.
Breakfast has a reasonable selection but there is only 1 waiter on duty to prepare the cooked food in the kitchen & replace used items ,with just help of I junior to clear the tables & only when they are vacated.
We paid extra for side lake view. Despite being on top floor the most we could see were glimpses due to the trees. Our room faced a large empty decaying villa taller than the hotel- not a pretty sight.
The lift can only follow 1 instruction at a time; hence, long waits at certain times of the day.
Loungers in the v. small garden match outside furhiture but are uncomfortable.

Most guests tended to stay up to 3 nights but we were there for 14 nights.

If go back would not pay for extras like side view or half board.

Desenzano is great place to stay.

.

Room Tip: Go for standard or junior suite. Don't pay extra for side lake view.

Just returned from a week at Villa Rosa hotel in Desenzano, Lake Garda. Staff dealt with check in efficiently, were very welcoming and always polite and helpful. Our standard room was tastefully decorated and cleaned daily. A welcome letter addressed personally, complementary bottle of red and welcome message on the LCD TV screen were nice touches. Wi-Fi is available free if charge to guests which was handy. Air conditioning was super effective too. We stayed on a BB basis, the breakfast buffet had a good variety, food was fresh and standards of cleanliness are high; but get to breakfast earlier if you want the delicious fresh peaches and apricots. Overlooking the lake from the hotel terrace, sipping fresh orange juice was perfect, a great way to start the day. The beautiful town of Desenzano is a short walk from the hotel. We found some first class restaurants, try Al Fattore and Osteria Saporedi Vino, you won't be disappointed. We had a fantastic holiday and will return someday, if only to do some of the things we didn't have time for, including the Monte Baldo cable car trip and relaxing at the Aquaria thermal spa in Sirmione.

Room Tip: You might like to upgrade to a lakeside view room.

We has a junior suite overlooking the lake (208) and arrived on the 6th August for 11 wonderful nights. From start to finish the service was excellent. Some people have complained about road noise but if you shut the balcony door and put on the aircon (it was very hot outside) we both had a peaceful nights sleep. To prove this my daughter and grand daughter flew out to join us for 3 nights and the staff kindly set up another bed and a cot right by the patio door and my 19 month old grand daughter slept all night. Staff were brilliant and the 2 male concierges were excellent with help finding cheap car hire, recommending good local restaurants and directions to local and further afield attractions. All the reception staff were really friendly and helpful. The pool is small but refreshing however some selfish people felt that placing their towels on sun beds early in the morning and then going out for expecting to come back to their "reserved" beds later was easily solved by moving their towels. A great stay and will go back there again. Breakfast, lunch and dinner service excellent and with the lake directly opposite you with sun loungers and umbrellas available to hire what more could we ask for !!

Room Tip: Front lake view rooms cost a bit more but wonderful to sit on the balcony, people watch and enjoy yo...
