“Do-it-Yourself Hotel and avoid 1st floor room”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2013

I researched a lot of hotels in the area and picked this one. I have to say, that this is probably the best hotel in this city, but there were some disappointments.

1) We arrived by car and their above ground lot was full. We were basically on their driveway waiting for someone to come out. I'm surprised with this being a 4 star hotel that there wasn't any bellboy or anyone in the parking area. My wide decided to get out of the car and went to the lobby where she was able to find the people blocking their car. Once they did, we ended going underground. Not exactly knowing where to park, we just took a spot and lugged our luggage up to the lobby.

2) They were very friendly and smiling in the lobby. They checked us in and gave us our key. That's it. Again, we noticed this in Italy a lot. The front desk isn't really informative. You have to ask them specific questions. We were curious as to what the hotel has to offer. So we asked if there was a gym? NO. A Pool? YES. Great! I'm glad I asked or else I would never have known!

3) I forget the room number we were in. I think it' was 102 or 104? It's the room next to the service closet. STAY AWAY. We got woken up at 5am, because all the housekeeping gets their stuff here and they are LOUD and the walls were pretty thin. On top of that, our bathroom window corner had a spider with a cobweb that seemed to have been living there for quite some time.

4) DO NOT LEAVE WINDOWS OPEN. It's very hot, so we decided to leave our bathroom window open. We went out and came back at night. When we got back, our kitchen was FILLED WITH FLIES. It was a like a horror movie. We closed the door and called the front desk and told them what happened. Being a 4 star hotel, we thought this would be handled.

Me: Hi, we have so many flies in the bathroom.
Front Desk: Why did you leave your window open?
Me: It was hot.
Front Desk: You can't leave your window open.
Me: If this is a problem, shouldn't there be a screen on the windows or a sign?
Front Desk: What's a screen?
Me: It's ok, can you help us?
Front Desk: We have bug spray, Come down and get it and spray it.
Me: You want me to go get the bug spray and do it myself?
Front Desk: Yes, it's here when you are ready.

OK, I guess that's how 4 star hotels do it in Italy. If that's the culture, then so be it. Anyway, I went ahead and I took the spray and ended up spraying all those suckers. It worked, only one problem... our whole room smelled like bug spray and we were inhaling it!

We went down and told them that our room is filled with toxic fumes and we wanted to move. Not just because of this, but also because the room was next to the service room and we could hear EVERYTHING! I don't think they were too happy, but they ended up moving us.

5) The location is great. This can't be beat. You are across from the river and very close to all the shopping. This is what made this hotel worth our stay.

Despite all the bad things that happened here, the staff overall was friendly... and I have a feeling the other hotels probably aren't much better when it comes to service. WE did have a wonderful time in Lago Di Garda!

Room Tip: Stay off that first floor. Too noisy.

We are sorry to know that we did not fully satisfied your expectations, however we would like to make some points clear to avoid any misunderstanding with the people reading your review.
1) Every day we have departures and arrivals : it can happen that 2 or 3 cars drive in the ground parking at the same moments. Our Hotel is a historic hotel in the centre of a little town not an airport hotel so maybe that 3 cars altogether cause some congestion : a little bit of patience and everything would be solved.
2) At check in we prefer to give short explanation letting the guests coming from a tiring travel experience ( maybe they drove for hours or they had to wake up early in the morning...) have a moment of relax. After their check in, we are at their disposal for any assistance they may require ( see many many other reviews on this point).
3) Our housekeeping service starts from h. 7.30 / 8 am not from h. 5am. In any case I will take the occasion of your review to remember them that the sleep of our guests must not be disturbed.
4) Our Hotel is located near the water so , as in seaside resorts if you leave your windows open with a nearby lamp on the balcony , when you come back probably you will find some mosquitos in your room. At the moment we do not know of the existence of any other way to kill the flies / mosquitos if not with spray , that of course causes some smell. If you know of any other solution to kill them, please let us know it would be of great help.
The Receptionist did not come to your room because it happened in the night and he can't leave the Hotel desk unattended ( if not for real emergencies). However, also in this case, we did our best to help you and moved you to a new room.
Thus, to make a summary of "the bad things" you experienced in our Hotel, they are : 1) a little bit of patience to allow us to manage the arrivals and the parking lot. 2 ) we did not fill you up with information at arrival preferring to give you all the assistance after you had some relax in your room. 3) you had a problem in your room because of the window let open with light on and we immediately solved it moving you to another room.

The rooftop pool was stunning. The service was excellent and always with a smile! The food was good, and we enjoyed having breakfast on the terrace overlooking the lake. The room was cleaned every day and the shower was amazing!! We had a balcony overlooking the lake, it was beautiful. It was a really luxurious stay and one we won't forget.

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view.

A first class hotel located close to the lake shore and the old town area of Desenzano with lots of restaurants. The staff were all friendly and helpful from the front desk to the waiting staff and the cleaners. Very comfortable room and lovely view of the lake. It is worth paying extra to get this. The public areas were very inviting and comfortable. Breakfast was good with a varied choice and the option to sit outside when the sun shines. Nice rooftop pool area, with food and drinks available for those who just want to relax on a sun bed. Ferry terminal only 5 minute walk away to visit other villages on the lake, and the train station allows access further afield such as Milan, Verona or Venice.

Room Tip: The extra for a lake view is worth it.

I stayed at the Park hotel for a business trip to Castiglione.
An Ideal location, beautifully located in front of the Garda Lake, with stunning views.
Just ensure you have a lake side view, as it is really worth it.

Food and service were good and respectful.

Desenzano is a touristic but very pretty lake town, with tons of restaurants and bars open in season.

If stayin in Desenzano, do visit Sirmione and have dinner there, very worth while.

Room Tip: lake side view, executive room minimum.

Just back from Hotel Park Desanzano di Garda. The hotel is located right accross the main street along the lake, and the views from the rooms with a view and the pool are worth every penny. The hotel is very clean, quite elegantly decorated and staff were charming, helpful and very polite. Rooms are modern, air conditioned and the bathrooms beautiful. The breakfast room is beautiful and spacious, and there are a few tables on the terrace so one can enjoy breakfast in the sun. From the reception one can arrange transportation to the airport (in our case, Verona) in very comfortable and prompt car service. Overall, a great choice in Desanzano.

Room Tip: Get a room with a view...for the 20 Euro extra you get a beautiful view from a large balcony and can...

Great hotel in fab location. We were there with out teenage son and were given room 110 which was perfect, not a lake view but we don't want to sit in the room looking out. Absolutely spotless everywhere and staff are really helpful. And the big plus, air conditioning which for a hot July was essential. Had a great week.
