“only balcony disappoints”
Reviewed October 31, 2011

The hotel is in a lovely location overlooking the lake, a lot of the rooms have views. The only problem with ours was that it was a concrete wall, so if you sat down-no view and there was never ever any sun on it. Many of the other rooms had wrought iron balconies with nice views, but they were not private as they were overlooked by all the others. We expected our room to be be quite small from the description, but it was large with high ceilings, bed and bedding was comfortable and the furnishings were of a high standard. The only real complaint was that it was a bit drab, very beige. Wardrobe space was great, bathroom excellent, everything was very new, spotless too.

There is a tiny bar, but generally it is not used, despite there being a lovely terrace, staff were friendly breakfast very nice with some hot food. There was a mini bar and safe, A tiny TV not much in English.

the position of the hotel is great, very close to the centre, yet quiet. There are some nice little bars behind the hotel and the Roman ruins too, which are definately worth a look. There is a buzzing market outside on a Tuesday which has a lovely feel. Sunday night was the best night it seemed the whole town was out

Room Tip: Rooms facing the lake with a wrought iron balcony are the best, but some can be very small.

We had a 2 nights break @ the park hotel from 07 oct - 09 oct, at the end of a family cruise, and what a place to stay!, this is a true 4 star hotel, we had booked 6 rooms and I thought the checking was very easy & quick. The rooms are very well kitted out and of a good size, I would say if you could get a lake view room get one, as the views are great of lake garda, if not, the view from the swimming pool on the 4th floor is great. Very relaxed lobby/bar area, with good chairs etc. The hotel is just on the edge of town, it will only take 1 min form the hotel and you are just about in the middle of town, where there is a great selection of shops / bars & restaurants.

Overall, great hotel with freindly staff and a rwal touch of class.

Can't recommend this place highly enough. We actually found it on TA and what a result, it was more than we had hoped for. This is a 4* that is better than many 5* hotels we've stayed in - public areas are elegant and staff charming. Our room was splendid, with a large balcony facing the lake. There is a road in front, but the beds and sound proofing were excellent, giving us a great nights sleep. The breakfast is sumptuous, best we have ever had in Italy. Spent a couple of mornings at the roof top pool, not a huge area, but we got sun beds on both occasions. We would have been happy to stay longer but were off to Verona and Padua. A week later our return flight was cancelled and we found ourselves with a couple of extra nights - the Park was our first choice to return to, but sadly they were fully booked. Not at all surprising. Book earl;y for next summer!

We decided to join friends who had already booked.
The hotel staff couldn't be friendlier. Hotel spotlessly clean, food fabulous (would recommend eating dinner at the hotel too). No complaints whatsover.
One point to look out for are the sizes of the balconies in the Executive rooms. Some are smaller than others. Would definitely go back again and would stay at the same hotel.

  • Liked — Reasonably easy to get to, and had good parking facilities if hiring a car
  • Disliked — No complaints

We stayed from 13th to 21st Sept in an executive room (473) which has a really large balcony with 1 lounger, small table and 2 chairs and fabulous uninterrupted views of the lake.
Our room was a good size with an extremely comfortable bed and even although our room was at the front of the hotel it was very quiet.
The hotel was spotlessly clean and all the staff very helpful & friendly and most speak English. The hotel is extremely close to all the shops, restaurants and ferry terminal with the added bonus of onsite parking.
Breakfasts were lovely, sitting outside admiring the lake view and we also had dinner in the restaurant 1 evening. Although it's a fairly limited choice on the menu, what we had was delicious (Asparagus rissotto and skewered fillet steak for mains) and is not overpriced for the attentive service and quality of the meal.
This was our first visit to Lake Garda and will certainly be back to this hotel

Room Tip: Although the executive rooms all have balconies with views of the lakes, rooms 472, 473 & 474 ha...

The top reason to stay in this Hotel is Location. Right on the Lake and very close to the Town Centre. However in a Superior room the bathroom was tiny, very hard to get in and out of shower. (normal sized person).
Swimming pool very very disappointint, it was tiny with a very cramped sun bathing area although the view from the pool is amazing.
A lot of very elderly guests in this hotel.
Breakfast was very poor. We stayed in 2 other Italian hotels both 3 star on this holiday and both offered better breakfasts.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights as part of a driving holiday - we chose it in part because it offered pretty good parking facilities as well as a lakeside view (which seemed harder to find/ more expensive if considering Simione). We knew nothing of the town before we went, but were very pleasantly surprised.

It's just a few steps away from the shops and restaurants of the pretty town of Desenzano, but up on the 4th floor where we were, it was perfectly quiet. Our room was clean, spacious and modern, and the bathroom was also very good (not sure about some of the other negative reviews - maybe they have refurbed?)

There is a rooftop pool and sunbathing area which is small but pretty nicely done - an attendant will bring you drinks, ice creams and so on. Towels and sunbeds are free. Couldn't understand why they charge guests for WiFi though - this seems a bit outdated?

The ground floor arrival area/ reception is particularly nice, and staff were okay. The one person who stood out was Ugo on the front desk - he was superb and very keen to please - a real pro.

I wouldn't recommend the hotel's restaurant. It was quiet, with a limited menu, and given how fabulous all the food seems to be in Italy in all places, from street restaurants to top hotels, this was actually quite disappointing. Food was, by comparison, rather bland and unimaginative. Neither was there any atmosphere to speak of, but this needn't be a worry, as the town has multiple places to choose from. Breakfast was fine, and there are outdoor tables to choose if you wish. Service was fine.

Beware Saturday nights perhaps; the town was very busy and noisy, with at least two stag nights patrolling the streets. Not much fun for couples wanting to enjoy their al fresco dining over a quiet glass of valpolicella. And on Tuesday mornings there is a simply enormous street market in the town which comes right up outside the hotel's main entrance. If you love markets then this is a real bonus.

It's just a 5 minute stroll to the ferry dock, where you can catch inexpensive boats to other towns on the lake. We wish we had the time to have done more of this, as it is a lovely way to pass the day. We went to Simione to see the Roman Villa ruins, only to find they close it on a Monday. Shame. Simione is very pretty indeed, but absolutely jammed full of day-tripping tourists (including us!).

Overall the Park Hotel is well located in a nice town (very good clothes shopping) and we would be perfectly happy to stay there again. It seems very popular with older English couples, and so is quiet.

Room Tip: Get a lake view - it's why you're there after all!
