Cafe Citta is located in the heart of the old town of Desenzano. We ordered molten chocolate (ciocolatte) and it was probably the best hot chocolate we ve ever had - super tasty. Cost was about Euro 4 and ambiance was fine. Come here for a coffee or a drink

We went to this restaurant because of its outdoor seating in close proximity to the orchestra playing in the town square, but as soon as we sat down we couldn't hear anything because of the 'lounge music' being played by the restaurant, and our table was directly under the speaker. We got up to leave and the manager came chasing after us, so we explained, and he very kindly turned his music off... however this did not go down too well with other, younger clientele who had been enjoying it. A compromise was reached and as soon as the orchestra stopped, the music went back on again. We enjoyed a lovely meal followed by complimentary limoncello, it wasn't cheap but nowhere is in Desenzano.

Had a few cocktails and nibbles here throughout the week. The location is great and food is okay, but the service is really lacking, mostly from the owner.
The majority of the younger staff are pretty good, a little slow, but friendly and a special mention must be made of the young man in a bow tie, who was absolutely fantastic. However, the owner was disinterested to the point of being rude. This was made worse by the fact that he appeared to fawn over some customers, whilst completely ignoring us despite the fact that we had been in several times.
The place can also not decide if it wants to be a restaurant or bar and as a result pulls of neither successfully. Some tables are set up for drinking and some for eating and there is an uneasy mix of drinkers and often families dining. I heard one family after deciding just to stay for a drink being asked to move to another area because of this after they had settled. Unsurprisingly they left shortly after. One side often ends up feeling ostracised if there is too much of the other going on.
Cocktails and pizzas are good, but the rest of the food is expensive for what it is. We were prepared to forgive the shortcomings until the last evening when after a few cocktails we decided to stay for food, asked for menus-waited fifteen minutes, got menus, decided what to order, put menus down, owner came by to collect them and give them to someone else, ignoring us in the process and just walked off without acknowledgement or taking an order. We settled up and left after this.

The look of this cafe is nice, but the food is minor. I ordered a shrimp cocktail with avocado, but the avocado was NOT ripe. As I mentioned this to the waiter, he immediately confirmed this and told me that he would solve the problem. As we received the bill they gave us a 2 euro discount!

It is not about the unripe avocado or the 2 euro.... When you go out for a nice diner you expect a nice meal and a good service, here at cafe Citta they really do not understand how to give their customers a nice experience...
