“Loved the Villa Porta all'Arco”

100% pleased with the Villa Porta all'Arco. We were able to park easily, the staff was so friendly and helpful and seemed genuinely glad to see us. The room was quite spacious and completely quiet. Breakfast was immense and scrumptous. One of the best we had at Italian hotels.

Location, location, location. We were at this hotel for 2 nights
We were near one of the main enterances into the city. We had a room on the 3rd floor facing the garden as requested and a great view from our window of the countryside. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and large and good water pressure for the shower. The breakfast was great. It has a small car parking area which we were able to leave our car there for the 2 days as we didn't go anywhere except into town. They apparently have a welcome dinner of pizza and wine for new guests which we didn't find out about till after the fact. Would of loved some of that homemade pizza. Would stay here again.

This hotel is charming and its staff are wonderful, kind and considerate people. Breakfast was a delightful experience. The accommodations are simple, but clean and utilitarian, and well worth the reasonable rates charged. Two words of caution. (1)The hotel is on a busy street that must be walked along and traversed to climb the several steps to the town. It is not recommended for those with any walking limitations, unless you plan to use a car to go up and down to the town. (2) Don't arrive before 3 p.m. since there is no onsite office staffing earlier in the day.

Chose this Hotel using the reviews on here and how lucky we were to stay there.

Room was lovely and spacious. We stayed two days and had breakfast in the garden both days.

The breakfast was delicious as commented on here and the staff laughed when we told them their breakfasts were legendary.

The only downside is that it I would not recommend it to older or disabled guests as it is a steep climb to wonderful Volterra.

A nice touch on our last day as we were using public transport back to Pisa, Antonella kept our luggage and brought it up by car to us at the bus station 10 minutes before our departure. Saved lugging the cases up the hill and around town all morning.

Definitely would stay here again, classy.

Stayed there for a night in august and i really wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel is situated just outside the city walls, it takes a short but quite steep 5 minutes walk to go to the city centre. The staff are really nice and helpful: they sent me two weeks before our stay an email with a map of volterra and provided directions to the hotel. We really appreciated that. The room was nicely furnished. It was very clean and we had a nice view on the garden. But the best thing about this hotel was the breakfast: the homemade cakes were delicious!!!

Volterra is a tiny medieval city famous for "alabastro" stone.Located on the top of a hill it's very charming and not so far from Siena, Chianti area, Pienza and spa. This hotel is small and sticked to the medieval wall that surrounds the town.Hospitality and kind attitudes from the desk and staff amazed me.Rooms are simple, furniture country oriented, bathroom is bigger enough and of course tidy and clean. Maybe towels should be replaced . They were old.
But it is not a real problem.I visited the city during my stay and I don't know if in the hotel they cook for lunch and dinner .I don't think so. Surely breakfast has been great with salads, focaccia and salami and tuscan raw-ham, bruschetta ( bread grilled with slices tomato), melon,cheese....or cakes in various choice like apple or pineapple or lemon.Big mug for cappuccino it's the first time I find here. I spent 90 euro ( around 110-120 usd) per nite in a double room.No frigobar but it's easy to get something to drink and hold it in the room.Airconditioning present and a small tv. No pool outside. Owner hospitality has been great. Perfect place during a journey in Tuscany when you don't need to stay much more then 2 nites in the same location.

This is a lovely little hotel just outside the city walls. Our room was big, well furnished and clean with a good quality bathroom. There was air con and a nice view out the big windows across the countryside. And having a large area for parking within the gates of the hotel was a definite bonus.

The short walk up into the town was steep - but then what else can you expect when you are staying in a hill town?!

But what makes this hotel really stand out was the quality of the breakfasts - in Italy it's fairly standard to have to make do with some good coffee and some fairly poor quality bread, jam and pastries before departing for a cafe up the road! But here we were treated to a huge spread of pastries, cakes, different types of bread and rolls, eggs, bruschettas, hams, fresh fruit and yoghurts. All the cakes and pastries - of which there was a tableful to choose from - were homemade and absolutely delicious.

This is a real gem of a hotel.
