So a mad, uplanned day trip to Volterra, in blistering Tuscan sunshine - what a fabulous town. We saw the sights until our feet were sore and our legs like jelly and then crept on our knees to L'Antica Taverna (ok - a bit of poetic license there, the point is we were Hungry with a capital H). This place is not to be missed - busy enough so you know it will be good but not so busy that you do't get great service. Maybemit was that capital H but the food was superb. I remember We shared antipasti, well you do, don't you, and then I had the carbonara - my first since we arrived on Tuscan shores and definitely worth waiting for.
So if you head to Volterra (and I would) on a hot day (and it probably will be) I definitely suggest lunch or dinner here (or if you are piggy like me - both)!
