Everything about Podere Marcampo is done well - beautifutone designed and constructed stone buildings with modern apartments on a hill with 360 degree views of the rolling hills of Tuscany. Claudia welcomed us warmly and told us about the history of the property, their vineyards and olive groves. There is a large swimming pool, beautifully maintained and very refreshing. Our GPS was not successful in finding this agriturismo, even with the coordinates, so I would suggest they include a map when confirming reservations.

Room Tip: All are exceptionally beautiful.

We stayed at the agriturismo Marcampo (aka Podera Marcampo) few miles outside of Volterra and it was beautiful with panoramic views and modern/large rooms...we stay in one of the apartments which consisted of a kitchen with dining room (dining table/chairs/ with a couch and flat screen tv) with large windows that open up to awesome views of the countryside...The bathroom was very modern with everything one would need...the bedroom was large with 3 large windows, again with panoramic views that were picture perfect....

Also was a very nice pool that was very refreshing...has laundry facilities...a very nice breakfast....The family that runs this place is very helpful (Claudia speak multiple languages and is wonderful)....Claudia's dad and mom work/own at the nicest restaurant in Volterra, and they are wine growers....We had a truly wonderful / relaxing experience staying here and combing through Volterra...Lots of history, and not overran with tourists....

Short distant from Volterra (5 minute drive)...about 1.5 to 2 hours from Florence...and nearby, lots of the Tuscan hill towns for day trips...

Watch out for the camera/speed traps....each infraction will cost you at least 100 Euros, plus the rental car agency will ding you for another $50 Euros per ticket....

Room Tip: All rooms have great views....choose depending on size and how many people are going...We loved the...

This is definitely the place to stay in Volterra. We rented the apartment for 2 adults and 2 kids, and it was great. The owners make a delicious breakfast every morning (with their homemade bread, homemade jams from the local berries, homemade salamis and cheeses that they make there on-site, together with yogurts, fresh fruit and cappuccinos). The grounds are lovely. The pool is perfect for hanging out in the warm afternoons. We had planned to use this as our home base for 5 days, but we ended up just staying at the house and in Volterra because they were both so perfect. They also offer a private cooking class at their delicious restaurant in town (even kids can do it). We highly recommend this place.

The house is set in lovely rolling Tuscan countryside with expansive views. The owner makes wine and olive oil and owns a restaurant in town, Del Ducca. I highly recommend the restaurant. The owner's daughter speaks excellent English and is very helpful. We rented the apartment and found it comfortable although sparsely furnished and dark in the living room. The location is 5 minutes from Volterra by car. Volterra is a lovely hill town with less crowds than many Tuscan hill towns. There is a nice patio and pool, very relaxing.

Room Tip: The apartment is up steps so not appropriate for people with disabilities.

Let's face it - you go to a foreign country and there's no guarantee that the bathroom is going to be as nice as you might hope. This place had a comfortable bed, and modern and super clean bathroom with a great shower, and views over rolling Tuscan hills and farmland that you see on TV and wish you could go there yourself. The innkeeper, Genuino, is nice - his daughter is very helpful, as she speaks English but Genuino doesn't really. The location is great - out of town a little bit, so if you like quiet nights with fresh air, this is the place for you.

Breakfast is decent, given that it's not table service and order-from-a-menu. They made sure that my gluten allergy was well taken care of. It was very thoughtful of them. The only two negatives were that the air conditioner really didn't blow cold air, and there were yellow jackets....everywhere. We had to eat breakfast inside our room with the doors closed because the yellow jackets were all over the breakfast room and the outdoor seating.

There is a nice outdoor pool, too. It's clean and the water is cold, so if you have a hot day, jump in.

The drive here from Florence was nice, too.
