We stayed nearby at Podere Campaini and ate at this restaurant all three nights of our Tuscany stay. Relaxed and affordable 5 star food. The staff is helpful and delightful and just attentive enough, and the food is fresh and prepared with care. It was the best food we ate in our two weeks in Italy. We enjoyed the grilled vegetables and a large cheese sampler one night, and the whole wheat pasta with vegetables was so simple and pleasing it was hard to not have that again. Crème brulee and their signature cookies both worth the splurge.

We tried to eat at this restaurant twice this week, it being the closest to our holiday apartment. The first time we arrived with our 4 year old son at 6.30pm, the owner/ waitress?? Barked at us that they wouldn't be serving till 7.30 as it was too hot!! She didn't say "good evening" or "welcome" or "maybe you could wait and have a drink", so we left with our tails between our legs feeling silly!!! We went back last night at 7.30 and were given the same rude reception, this time she couldn't serve us because it had been raining ( about 2 hours previously) and she needed to dry the tables???? ( she had had plenty of time before her restaurant opened!!! It seemed she just didn't want to serve us and so my husband spoke to her and instead of just apologising and offering us alternatives she just shouted at us and argued with us. I have eaten in many hotels and restaurants all over Tuscany, as we have been coming here to see our suppliers for more than ten years now, I have never seen this sort of behaviour, the best in Tuscany,???? Not!!

Delicious food, great family atmosphere on a Sat night.

Very helpful and knowledgeable staff (their wine recommendation was perfect) and overall amazingly good value.

Pretty location a few kms north of Volterra. Wish I lived nearer so I could go again!

This restaurant has charm, lovely staff and fabulous food but at prices that are such great value that you just want to keep going back. Some reviewers say 'best in Tuscany' Well I've not tried them all but I've not found one that's better - we visit here 6-7 times a year so have tried many. I highly recommend Molino D'era for a great Tuscan evening.

This fabulous family run hotel and restaurant must be the best in Tuscany. The service is mainly done by two sisters Irma and Sandra who are fluent English speaking as well as other languages and are always warm and welcoming. The food is superb with classic starters and main courses as well as some slightly different fare. The wine is wonderful and extensive and a very good bottle of local Tuscan wine can be bought for less than €15 and the total cost of a wonderful meal for €60-70. This is a superb restaurant well worth a visit. We will be back.
