This is a little jewel of a hotel. The location is quiet, roughly ten to fifteen minutes' walk from the beach or, in the opposite direction, the lovely little town of Villasimius. The hotel looks beautiful - inside and out. Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean, with a little balcony and a glorious view over the gardens, the pool and the surrounding area. We were greeted warmly by the staff and offered drinks immediately - very welcome after our journey.
Breakfast was plentiful and freshly prepared as were the lunchtime snacks and salads. Unfortunately, the hotel is not able to offer evening meals, but there are plenty of good restaurants in the area. The staff were wonderful - pleasant, friendly and exceptionally helpful. They recommended excellent restaurants and trips and nothing was too much trouble. We chose the hotel based on previous reviews and were totally delighted with it. We will definitely go back.

This very beautiful place is hard to beat. Sea view rooms on the first floor look out over countryside to the sea and over the lovely gardens and pool. We arrived to a welcome drink after a difficult drive following a brick lorry around the winding road with no passing places. Staff were very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay.
Rooms, air conditioning, cleanliness and balconies are all superb. Location in the resort is fine providing you dont mind a 5 min walk to the nearest beach and a 15 min walk to the best restaurants in the village. Breakfast is good but it would have been nice for the smiling young lady to remember our drink preferences as it is not a busy place. We did not travel far from the hotel as we needed to relax but had a couple of days out to Costa Rei and a boat trip which were good to break the time.
We had a wonderful time and even the arrival of a group with noisy children spreading their collection of floats and toys across the garden did not end this (though another 2 days and you would have to complain). We were told that this area is a busy part of Sardinia, if this is the case then the quiet parts must be very quiet but it was early season. Would recommend this hotel and the area.

Room Tip: The sea view is worth it but the hillside views at the rear also have their charm

I selected the mariposas after reviewing tripadvisor and was not disappointed. From the moment we arrived I realised how special this place was. After a long journey from olbia we were ushered into the garden me offered a beer or coffee in the sun while our paperwork was completed. Such a relief and such a beautiful and calm place. Everyone working in the hotel was so friendly and helpful, the rooms, pool area and breakfast room all perfect, clean, relaxing, spacious and well equipped. The location worked well for us as it was equi distant between beach and town. However some might find the 15 min walk to town a bit much without a car. I didn't see anywhere else I sardonic I would prefer to be and would definitely go back.

Just back from a week at the Hotel Mariposas and i have to say everything in previous reviews are correct. This is a fantastic small hotel where the friendly staff make all the difference! My wife and I were looking for a quiet week to do nothing but relax (didn't even want a car). This hotel met all expectations and then some. We had room 207 which had a lovely balcony overlooking the pool and gardens with the sea (and the redundant building site) beyond. The breakfasts were lovely and the lunchtime snacks and salads were also very nice. The location is great as it was only a 10 minute walk into Villasimius and the beach was 5 mins walk in the opposite direction. Pretty quiet now as it is the end of the season but that meant empty beaches and little traffic noise. The pool area and gardens are lovely as is the terrace seating area. The only problem was the mosquito bites but a quick trip to the local pharmacy sorted that.

The best part of all was the staff who work tirelessly to make your stay as relaxed as possible. Nothing is too much trouble and many thanks to Roberto for all your help and advice. Their friendly, smiling attitudes were the best stress buster i have found! Will definitely go back and recommend to other friends and family.

Room Tip: Our room was big enough for two adults and a child (or even three adults) and had a large and sunny...

This little hotel is just great. Perfect location between the town of Villasimius and the beach!
The hotel is very clean and the hotel grounds with the swimming pool are just magnificent!
Very friendly staff, especially Ricardo is very charmful!
The breakfast selections are just very tasty and fresh. Especially the scrambled eggs and bacon are recommended!
The rooms are not over-luxury but they are very clean and offer all what you need: beautiful views into the garden and swimming pool with the sea at the far background, minibar, airconditioning, safe, hairdryer, ...
To be recommended for sure and will be back!

Trust all the wonderful reviews and go to this hotel, you won't be disappointed! It is beautifully maintained, the rooms are very well appointed and include a fridge, safety deposit box and air con (but sadly no kettle.) The staff couldn't be nicer and are always happy to help. While we were there it was my Mum's birthday and at breakfast they presented her with a lovely vase full of flowers from their beautiful garden. The hotel is ideally situated between the beach and the town, the beach is about a 5 minute walk, and town is about 10 minutes (which my Mum easily managed every day, and she was 77 whilst we were there.) It isn't often that a place lives up to its rave reviews but this one does.

Room Tip: We had a 'family room', which gave us a large sized double room (double and single bed) , an...

What makes this special as others have said is the very helpful advice and welcome from this family team (Roberto, Ricardo, the father and others). The rooms were perfect, breakfast (and staff) sweet, pool inviting (though we did not go in preferring to motor off to a range of little bays - some on Ricardo's Google Earth advice).

We had a seaview room for the first two nights (though, not thier fault, there is an ugly building site in between) and then had to move to one which was not but in fact enjoyed it just as much as had shady balcony but sun in the evening with a lovely mountain view. On the last 2 nights there was either a lively disco (or was in a rave) in some sort of Tanka Village nearby, until 2am - but if you shut the doors and turned the AC on, there was little disturbance!

Most restaurants - some 15 minutes walk away - are un-pretentious and modestly priced. We did not actually go a bomb on Stella D'Oro which comes up as best reviewed mainly as we had to wait so long for service but perhaps were unlucky that night. Surprisingly our best meal was a home made lasagne at the restaurant on the beach - looks a bit 'commercial' but we did well.

Room Tip: All good - but for differenet reasons - see above
