Six of us booked in to Taverna al Cantinone in Via Mafrolla, Vieste Old Town, on Saturday night at the end of a week touring Puglia. The atmosphere was friendly and lively - we were the only non-Italians there. The food was simply delicious, generous portions (no "art-on-a-plate" here!), expertly cooked and presented. The local pasta varieties and sauces were tasty, generous and just right, the fried and grilled fish selections were fresh, varied and perfectly-cooked, and the local red and white house wines were good quality and affordable. We ate well for €25-30 per person (including wine), and we were greeted and treated like locals. You can't ask for more. Thoroughly recommended (but book on a Saturday evening).
