From the adventurous climb down the mountain in the morning to the breath-taking view of the setting sun each night Villa Del Sole proved itself to be everything we hoped for and more. the locals were friendly and always made the best efforts to compensate for any trouble with the language barrier through kindness, and the owner Mr Giovanni in particular made hospitality and our comfort his mission over our stay; ensuring that we were adequately supplied and provided for on a daily basis. The experience as a whole was phenomenal and I can definitely see myself picking this accommodation in future visits to come.
The steps up to the villa can be forgiven for the dramatic and breath taking views of the coast. The pool, outside seating area, and inside were scrupulously clean and the annexe a perfect addition to take extra friends or family without crowding. The owner was so helpful explaining where to shop, visit and bringing the most delicious croissants to us every morning and share home grown tomatoes. Herbs and salad grew in the garden and we enjoyed a tasty dinner cooked for us.
Wardrobe and chest of drawers is only in one bedroom in the main part of the villa.
All the reviews for this property on all the websites I've seen are positive and rightly so. Its a five star place!
The views are amazing. Take the bus to the top of the mountain (it stops right outside) and be blown away by a panorama of Capri, the peninsula, Ischia, Naples, Vesuvius and the mountains beyond.
The villa is halfway up a mountain away from the hustle and bustle but public transport is good (and cheap) and the village is well served with shops and bars. We didn't rent a car but getting to all the sights is pretty straight forward by bus and train.
Giovanni is a great person to have around and I am genuinely sad to have said goodbye. From the very moment we arrived he was welcoming and throughout the holiday he was always there to help but never intrusive. He made the holiday that much more special.
This is a perfect base for exploring Napoli and the Amalfi coast while providing a peaceful and spacious place to return to. And it's great for sunbathing too!
We loved our stay in Moiano at Giovanni's beautiful villa. There are so many fantastic day trips that can be taken from this villa - hiking over to Positano, taking a cable car down a mountain for a short train trip to Pompeii, taking a day trip to the Island of Capri... All trips were suggested and facilitated by Giovanni who also brought us groceries when we needed them, even having special dinners made for us and bringing them to the villa. Giovanni felt like a part of the family by the end of the week and we miss him.
The view from the villa is spectacular (better than it looks on the web site), looking down the hills/mountains to the sea below. There was a small garden from which we could pick what we liked. the small pool was perfect for cooling off on a hot day. The villa itself was very modern inside, fresh and clean. The beds were quite comfortable.
As we were 6 family members traveling together, we had a large (9 passenger) van and though the roads were challenging with the van, there was ample room to park it at the villa.
I wouldn't recommend this villa for individuals with mobility issues as there are many stairs to climb. It is excellent for those who want to be active as there are many excellent hikes in the area.
The only constructive criticism that I would offer of the property is that there were too few mugs/tea cups, and the kitchen could have been somewhat better stocked overall, but Giovanni made up for it by bringing us the meal we would have needed the baking tray for. The local pizza was also fantastic.
We didn't want to leave, and plan to come back some day. Thank you Giovanni for helping us create so many fantastic memories!
