I have traveled a lot in Italy and may confirm, that this garden is the Number One here. Created by Scottish captain, it in some way resembles Inverewe Garden. There is an embarkment, although not every boat is coming here. Be careful to bring enough water with you, as no drinking water point in the garden is in use, so you have to pay $2.2 for a small bottle. And you will need more than two hours for a visit.

Even though Lago di Maggiori can be full of tourists, we did not feel that this lovely garden was crowded. It is beautifully maintained and worth the visit. we had a delicicous lunch at the garden restaurant too.

We visited this garden on a trip out of Stresa. Easy drive which took about 30mins, lots of parking but also easily accesible by Lake Ferry as terminal is just outside entrance. The garden is quite large and cost €10 each to get in. The map is useful and the arrows very helpful. It is easy to see that the garden was designed and planted up by a englishman as it is well set out and full of interest and colour. Allow 3 to 4 hours for the visit unless you are just going to rush around. Lots of great specimen plants , water features, formal beds, ponds, trees etc etc. A real gem with good paths and many vistas, prepare to take loads of photo's!

It doesn't matter when you visit here, I'm sure they'll always have many plants/trees either in bloom or looking well; a visit that will be remembered for the rest of our lives and if we do return to Stresa it will be NO. 1 on our list of trips; would like to be there in Aug/Sept to see the Dahlias in full bloom; Enjoy your visit!
