We had a party of 3 of us who stayed at this hotel. It was a Newmarket Holiday to Italy and Austria. Our stay was most enjoyable, the hotel room was clean and tidy. The bathroom was small and had only 1 shelf, but it was ok. The staff were friendly and the menu was not of a large choice but no one need go hungry. There was no bacon etc for breakfast but there was boiled eggs, cereals and the usual bread and conserves. Again no need to go hungry. Torbole was very quiet at night and having stayed in Riva before we did prefer Riva for a more social evening. One of our party said that they had no wardrobes in their room and another didn't have enough hot water. If you bought a drink at the bar and sat outside you would have to pay 1euro extra for that pleasure. Overall though we enjoyed our stay but 3 days was long enough.

We stayed at the Geier as part of our Newmarket holiday and didn't have any problem with the hotel at all.
We were on a B+B package as that suited us.
Breakfast was always quiet (time of year) and we always had plenty to choose from.
The room was on the 2nd floor and was a perfect size.
The staff were also perfect.

We stayed as part of a Newmarket package holiday and as others have said the only good thing was the location. We arrived late on the first day of our tour and although The Greier had been paid for providing our food we were told "Kitchen closed, go elsewhere"
Tour groups were treated differently from paying customers. The food was possibly the most disgusting I have ever put in my mouth. The service was dire, bad tempered staff who banged down plates of pre prepared 'food' (I use the word loosely) I dared to ask for butter to spread on a hard dry roll and got shouted at!
Do yourself a favour, turn around and walk less than 100 yards to Restaurant Al Porto (opposite the entrance to The Greier) for wonderful pizzas served until 11.00 at night. We decided to cut our losses and pay (again) for decent food.

Even at breakfast we were treated like 2nd class customers, paying guests had a breakfast room with a fresh coffee machine on the 1st floor, tour groups had their own room with a jug of warm water on the table!

This hotel seemed to be run by an elderly Madam and is proably the worst I have ever stayed in as far as food is concerned - it was seriously awful. We were with Newmarket Holidays who I suspect screwed them for their cheapest price at the expense of their profits and of course their customers - NOT A GOOD IDEA!! We drew the short straw by being allocated one of the worst rooms above the neighbouring restaurant with all the smells and noises which went with it and only minimal view of the water's edge. Thank goodness our 7 night holiday was for only 3 nights here as the following hotel in Austria was a completely different experience.

The cleanlinless was average and the breakfasts somewhat less than average. 1 old toaster was supplied which wasn't a pop up and only for 2 slices of bread. There was no area to sit and chat with fellow travellers except for the pavement outside or the dinning room. The staff, except for the man on reception, were untrained and didn't seem to know how to wait at table or be civil.

The Geier has one saving grace which is its location, but in my opinion I would rather have stayed elsewhere for more comfort and edible food. It certainly doesn't warrent 3 stars judging from my previous experience around the world including other locations in Italy.

Having spoken to other guests staying at the same time as us who were on B & B and a different tariff with a choice from the A La Carte menu, they seemed to have had better value and their meals were reportedly OK, We were on some sort of Group rate but Newmarket Holidays should equally be ashamed of themselves as I believe are perfectly aware of the situation.

I will avoid both Newmarket Holidays and the Geier in the future and suggest my readers do too.

Room Tip: Don't go there unless travelling individually - not in a group

Stayed here as part of a Newmarket Holidays tour to Lake Garda & the Austrian Tyrol. I can only assume that the holiday company sqeezed the proprietors for every penny causing the hotel management to offer the most appalling value for money. The only thing going for this hotel is the location - beside the lake. The food was rubbish. Breakfast very basic and a dog was allowed in the dining area where food was laid out. Evening meals were a disaster although one was given an option for desert - take it or leave it.
Visiting customers sitting at outside tables were given a different menu which may have been better but other restaurants in the vicinity had more diners - and that tells a story.
The rooms were like broom cupboards, extremely cramped with little or no wardrobe space.
No shampoo or shower gel is provided and soap only if you ask for it. Apart from one young lady helping with breakfast the staff need to learn how to smile and need an injection of happiness. Lake Garda is wonderful, do visit, but give The Geier a miss.

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights/2 days as our first stop as part of a Newmarket holiday to Italy & Austria. Arrived late evening so missed our first evening meal but received a warm welcome from the receptionist on duty. Our room was small but very clean with an excellent view of the lake. Disappointed that for such a prime location we were badly let down by the sub-standard food provided to us, especially when it was obvious that they have a good kitchen/chef, judging by the evening meals being carried through our dining room to independent customers sitting outside – this was unacceptable. On my first visit to Italy I was looking forward to experiencing real Italian food but with a choice of Russian salad or chicken stew and roast potatoes (which turned out to be a chicken leg and 6 chips!) on our first night, we chose to eat out from the many excellent authentic restaurants nearby for our second/final night.
Would recommend this hotel for the location only!

Stayed here on a Newmarket Holidays Italian Lakes/Austrian Tyrol holiday. The location of the hotel is fantastic, right on the lake side, our room was perfectly clean and had a great view of the lake. However, what really let this holiday down is the shocking food. They don't cater for vegetarians - I mean ham omelette - come on!!! All food was of a generally poor standard showing that only pence per head was obviously been budgeted for each meal. Breakfast was a free for all and if you weren't up for 7.30 am everything had gone and wasn't topped up. The restaurant attached to the hotel seemed to offer a far higher standard of food so I'm not sure if the poor food can be attributed to the hotel or the dreadful deal Newmarket Holidays must have made with them on the budget they could spend per head!

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view room on the second floor these seem to have the best views.
